Mount Softball Set to Host Games at Our Lady of the Meadows Field

MOUNT UPDATE: After 17-consecutive games away from home to open the season, the Mount St. Mary's softball team makes its home debut with games on Sunday at Our Lady of the Meadows Field on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT: The Mount split a road doubleheader at UMBC on Tuesday, losing game one by a 4-2 final score before picking up a 3-1 victory in the nightcap. Sophomore Sam Lichtner put together one of her strongest performances in a Mount uniform in a complete-game performance in the circle. Lichtner gave up just one run on four hits in game two. Freshman Morgan Alisauckas broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run homer in the sixth inning to give the Mount the game two win.

ALL-TIME SERIES…
vs. Albany:
The Mount has gone 0-3 versus Albany in the three all-time meetings. The Great Danes swept a doubleheader from the Mount in 2006. The last time the two met was 2010 when Albany earned an 8-1 victory over the Mountaineers.
vs. Cornell: The all-time series with Cornell is tied at 2-2-1. The two sides first squared off in 1995. Last time the teams met up was 2011 when the Big Red swept a doubleheader at Our Lady of the Meadows Field.

POWER HITTING: Freshman Morgan Alisauckas has accounted for four of the Mount's eight home runs this season. Alisauckas has two home runs in her last three games. The Pottsville grad also leads the Mount in hits (13), RBIs (13) and batting average (.333).

OUR LADY OF THE MEADOWS FIELD: Mount St. Mary's went 8-5 at home a year ago and holds a 25-35 record at home under fifth-year Head Coach Anna Nagro.

NEC PRESEASON POLL: Mount St. Mary's was selected to finish eighth in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Central Connecticut was picked first in the poll with four first-place votes, followed closely by Bryant, which also picked up four top votes. LIU Brooklyn and Robert Morris finished 3-4 in the poll with the Blackbirds of LIU picking up the final first-place vote. FDU, Saint Francis U and Wagner followed, with the Mount finishing ahead of Sacred Heart in this year's poll.
