MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount St. Mary's softball team continues the early portion of its season with six games in three days at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. The Mount will square off with Coastal Carolina three times, Saint Joseph's twice and Loyola-Chicago once. Through five games so far this season, sophomore Rachel Heinze and senior Rachel Teti pace the offense with three hits apiece.

ALL-TIME SERIES…
vs. Saint Joseph's:
The Mount has gone 0-16 all-time versus the Hawks dating back to the first meeting in 1991. The last time the two teams met was 2002 when Saint Joseph's swept a doubleheader in Emmitsburg.
vs. Coastal Carolina: The Mountaineers and Chanticleers will be squaring off for the fifth, sixth and seventh time in the three-day tournament. Coastal Carolina has won all four of the previous matchups. Coastal beat the Mount twice in 1994 and twice in 1996.
vs. Loyola-Chicago: The Mount has never faced Loyola-Chicago.

LAST TIME OUT: Mount St. Mary's opened the 2015 campaign at the Georgia Tech-Georgia State Invitational Feb. 20-22. Facing tough competition that included three games versus Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Georgia Tech, the Mount went 0-5. The Mount also lost single games with Georgia State and Presbyterian.

PRESEASON TOURNAMENTS: The Coastal Carolina Invitational is the second of four preseason tournaments on the Mount's 2015 schedule before the team's home debut on March 20. After the weekend in South Carolina, the Mountaineers are slated for tournaments at UMBC in Baltimore and St. John's in Queens, N.Y.

HITTING FOR POWER: Through five games, freshman Morgan Alisauckas and senior Rachel Teti have both hit home runs for the Mount. Both occurred in the Mount's 10-4 loss at Georgia State on Feb. 21. As a team, the Mount hit 12 home runs a year ago.

IN THE CIRCLE: The Mount has used three pitchers so far this season with Danni Cummings, Marian Ruf and Sam Lichtner all getting their chance. Ruf leads the team with a 7.00 ERA and nine strikeouts in two outings.

NEC PRESEASON POLL: Mount St. Mary's was selected to finish eighth in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Central Connecticut was picked first in the poll with four first-place votes, followed closely by Bryant, which also picked up four top votes. LIU Brooklyn and Robert Morris finished 3-4 in the poll with the Blackbirds of LIU picking up the final first-place vote. FDU, Saint Francis U and Wagner followed, with the Mount finishing ahead of Sacred Heart in this year's poll.

UP NEXT: The Mount heads to Hampton for a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 4.
