Mount Women's Swimming Continues Strong Performance at NEC Championships; Remains in Fifth

THURSDAY RESULTS

Cambridge, Mass. (February 26, 2015) – With two days and seven events in the books at the Northeast Conference Championships at MIT, the Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team remained in fifth place on Thursday with a two-day total of 118 points.

After posting a 5:03.99 time in the prelims of the 500 free, junior Haley Fournier (Ave Maria, Fla.) went on to take sixth in the A Finals with a 5:03.29 finish. The performances were the best two times by a Mount swimmer this season.

In the B Finals of the 500 free, Bridget Vaughan (Olney, Md.) placed fourth in 5:06.28. Vaughan had qualified for the finals after clocking in at 5:09.58 in the prelims to finish 11th overall.

Sophomore Amanda Moore (Katy, Texas) touched the wall in 23.84 seconds in the A Finals of the 50 free, good enough for seventh overall, with senior Erin Regan (Ft. Washington, Pa.) placing third in the B Finals for the 50 free in 24.10. Moore's time was slightly off the school record of 23.78, and was the top time for the Mount in the event this season.

Morgan Runk (Toms River, N.J.) and Anne Thelen (Raleigh, N.C.), who also qualified for the C Finals of the 50 free, posted finishes of 24.99 and 25.08, respectively in the finals.

Freshman Juliette Lacoste (Barnstable, Mass.) turned in a 200 IM prelim time of 2:11.88 before shaving off just over half a second to place seventh in the B Finals in 2:11.37. 

The Mount's 200 free relay team of Catherine Sukovich (Flemington, N.J.), Runk, Lenna Castro Marquez (Silver Spring, Md.) and Thelen took sixth in 1:40.61.
