20th Anniversary Celebration: The Mount will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 1995 Northeast Conference championship team at halftime. That team is the first Mount squad to advance to the NCAA Division I Tournament.
FIRST FIVE
1. Byron Ashe scored a game-high 23 points to lead Mount St. Mary's to an 82-65 win over LIU Brooklyn on Thursday night at Knott Arena. Gregory Graves added 18 points, Andrew Smeathers 15 points and Taylor Danaher 11 points in the victory. The Mount went on a 17-to-2 first-half run to take the lead for good at 29-19, and went to the locker room with a 38-30 lead thanks to a Smeathers putback at the buzzer. After LIU 23-to-6 second-half run pushed the Mount advantage to 61-38. From there, the Mountaineers were able to cruise to the victory.
2. Byron Ashe led the Mount with 23 points in the win over LIU Brooklyn. The 6-1 guard has scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games for the first time in his Mount career, and he is averaging 23.5 points over the past two games. Ashe has scored in double figures in six of the past seven games, averaging 15.4 points over that stretch.
3. The Mount St. Mary's bench scored a season-high 54 points in the win over LIU Brooklyn on Thursday night. The Mount bench is averaging 35.1 points over the past seven games, and has tallied 30 or more points eight times this year, and 20 or more points in 14 of the team's 26 games.
4. Andrew Smeathers tallied 15 points and seven rebounds in the Mount's 82-65 win over LIU Brooklyn on Thursday. Semathers is now averaging 10.1 points and 4.5 boards in 10 games this season.
5. Up next, the Mountaineers will travel to Saint Francis U on Thursday, February 26, for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
