RESULTS
Baltimore (January 30, 2015) – Junior Haley Fournier won a pair of events to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team's effort versus Loyola on Friday evening in the final competition before the Northeast Conference Championships. In the overall team competition, the Mount fell by a 194-98 final score.
Fournier was responsible for half of the team's individual victories with freshman Bridget Vaughan and senior Erin Regan adding the others.
Fournier was victorious in the 400 IM (4:43.47), finishing more than three seconds ahead of the second place finisher from Loyola. In the 200 breast, Fournier's winning time of 2:31.86 was less than a second off her best time of the season in event of 2:31.18 from the Franklin & Marshall Invitational in November.
Vaughan was able to cruise to victory in the 1000 free in 10:50.97, putting 11 seconds between herself and the next finisher.
Regan won the 200 free (1:56.97) by just over a second in what was the second-best time in the event by a Mount swimmer this season. The senior also added a pair of second-place finishes on the day. She finished .28 seconds behind the leader in the 50 free with a time of 25.50 and placed second in the 500 free (5:18.29).
Sarah Bonson took second place in the 200 fly (2:11.76) as well as the 100 fly (1:01.30), while Amanda Moore and Lenna Castro Marquez finished 2-3 in the 100 free with times of 54.15 and 54.73, respectively.
In the 200 free relay, Castro Marquez, Catherine Sukovich, Morgan Runk and JeMoon Won put together a 1:43.08 finish to place second.
Next on the schedule is the Northeast Conference Championships Feb. 25-28 at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
