Emmitsburg, Md. (January 26, 2015) – The Mount St. Mary's women's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Robert Morris team, falling 68-44 on Monday night at Knott Arena in Northeast Conference action. The Mountaineers suffered just their second home loss of the season.

Jacqueline Brewer led the offensive attack for the Mount (7-12, 5-3 NEC) with 14 points to go with eight rebounds, while the Colonials (8-11, 6-2 NEC) shot 49.0 percent (25-for-51) from the field. Megan Smith posted a game-high 15 points for RMU, with Rebeca Navarro adding 13.

In a battle of two teams tied for third in the NEC standings, Robert Morris never trailed, extending its winning streak to five games. The Mount had won five of its last six entering Monday's contest.

The Colonials seized control early with the first five points of the game on a Navarro three-pointer followed by a layup from Ashley Ravelli. The Mountaineers answered back with an 8-3 run that included five points from freshman Jessica Harris to knot the game at 8-8 with 13:05 left in the first half. It turned out to be the only time the game was tied.

RMU grew its advantage to nine points over the next three minutes, before the Mount got as close as four at 25-21 with 5:12 showing on the first-half clock. The Colonials took back the momentum with an 11-0 run to end the half capped by Navarro's three in the waning seconds for a 36-21 halftime edge.

The Robert Morris lead reached 20 in the first four minutes of the second half, as the Colonials shot 50 percent in the final 20 minutes to pull away.

The Mount outrebounded RMU by a 33-29 margin, marking the third time the team has outrebounded an opponent this season. Strong defense from both sides forced turnovers throughout the night. Harris, who finished as the Mount's second-leading scorer with 11 points, recorded four of the team's eight steals. As a team, the Mount could not overcome 23 turnovers.

The Mountaineers are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 31, with an 11:30 a.m. tip-off at Sacred Heart. The game will be streamed live through ESPN3.
