Box Score Emmitsburg, Md. (January 24, 2015)--Junior Robinson scored a team-high 10 points as Mount St. Mary's downed Saint Francis U, 52-40, in Northeast Conference action at Knott Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Mountaineers held Saint Francis to 30.4 percent shooting in the win.
Leading by three with 12 minutes remaining, the Mount (9-10, 5-3 NEC) went on a 10-2 run to take a 44-33 advantage. Gregory Graves and Charles Glover started the run with back-to-back buckets. Taylor Danaher added the next four points with Chris Martin scoring a fast-break lay-up to cap the spurt.
The Red Flash (10-9, 4-4 NEC) whittled the lead to 44-38 after a Malik Harmon three-pointer with 4:43 left, but Graves buried a clutch three-pointer on the Mount's next possession to push the advantage back to nine. From there, the Mount was able close out the victory.
Robinson finished with 10 points, three rebounds and two assists in the balanced effort for the Mountaineers. Byron Ashe added nine points while Graves finished with seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Harmon led all scorers with 15 points off the bench for Saint Francis while Earl Brown chipped in a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds.
The Mount allowed 40 points in the game, the fewest points by a Mount opponent since a 57-38 win over Wagner on Feb. 28, 2004.
Saint Francis was 17-of-56 (30.4 percent) from the field and 2-of-20 (10.0 percent) from three-point range. Mount St. Mary's shot 46.5 percent in the game, including 11-of-17 (64.7 percent) in the second half. The Mountaineers held a 36-30 edge on the boards.
Mount St. Mary's begins a four-game road trip at NEC leader St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday, January 29.
Game Notes: The Mount has won five of its past six games, holding the opposition to 53.3 points, 36.8 percent shooting from the field, and 24.2 percent shooting from three-point range.
