FIRST FIVE
1. The Mount rallied from a 21-point first-half deficit to down LIU Brooklyn, 61-54, at Barclays Center on Saturday afternoon. The win stretched the Mount's win streak to a season-high four games. Chris Martin scored 15 points while Junior Robinson added 12 points and five assists (all in the second half) to pace the Mount in the win. The Mount trailed 25-4 with just over six minutes left in the first half. The Mount also trailed 36-19 early in the second half before closing the game on a 42-18 run to earn the victory.
2. The Mountaineers are riding a four-game win streak heading into the matchup with the Colonials. It is the Mount's longest NEC win streak since winning the final seven games of the regular season in 2012-13.
3. Defense has played a key role in the Mount's four-game win streak. The Mount's opponents are averaging 54.2 points while shooting 36.1 percent overall and 23.2 percent from three-point range over the four-game span. For the season, the Mount is allowing 66.9 points per game while opponents are shooting 46.6 percent overall and 35.0 percent from three-point range.
4. The Mountaineers have four players averaging in double figures, and five averaging nine or more points, in NEC play this year. Gregory Graves leads the way, averaging 14.0 points and 8.3 rebounds in league games. Andrew Smeathers is averaging 13.3 points, Byron Ashe 10.8 points and Chris Martin 10.2 points in NEC games as well.
5. Mount St. Mary's hosts Saint Francis University on Saturday, January 24, at 2:30 p.m. for its annual Winter Homecoming Game.
