Brooklyn, N.Y. (January 17, 2015)—Chris Martin scored 15 points while Junior Robinson added 12 points and five assists (all in the second half) to lead Mount St. Mary's to a come-from-behind 61-54 win against LIU Brooklyn at the Barclays Center on Saturday afternoon.  The Mountaineers trailed by 21 points in the first half.

LIU Brooklyn took advantage of a cold-shooting start by the Mountaineers (8-9, 4-2 NEC), grabbing a 25-to-4 lead with 6:14 left in the first half.  The Mount made just one of its first 15 shot attempts in the game.

The Mountaineers, who have won four consecutive games, were able to climb back in the game by ending the half on a 15-to-4 run.  Khalid Nwandu scored on a drive and a Will Miller three-pointer started the run.  Another Nwandu basket and a Martin drive cut the gap to 26-13 with just over two minutes left in the half.

Trailing 29-15, Martin converted a four-point play with 17. 9 seconds left in the half to cut the deficit to 29-19 at the break.  The Mount was just 7-of-27 (.259) from the field and 2-of-10 (.200) from three-point range in the half.  LIU shot 38.5 percent (10-of-26) from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

The Blackbirds (6-11, 2-4 NEC) scored the first seven points on the second half, including a pair of three-pointers from Gerrell Martin, to take a 36-to-19 advantage.  From there, the Mount closed the contest on a 42-to-18 run to earn the win.

Trailing 38-24 with 15:22 remaining, the Mountaineers scored 13 unanswered points to get back in the game.  Taylor Danaher's dunk on a feed from Robinson started the run.  Robinson then got a steal and a basket, and Byron Ashe then added a three-pointer off another steal, to cut the deficit to 38-31.

Robinson hit a pair of free throws, Gregory Graves scored a bucket, and Kristijan Krajina scored on a fast-break basket to make it 38-37 with 10:12 remaining.

A Miller three-pointer made it 43-42, and Robinson hit a triple from the top of the key to tie the score at 45-45.  The Mount got a stop, and Graves gave the Mount its first lead of the game, 47-45, off a feed from Robinson with 5:36 left.

Martin extended the Mount advantage to 49-45, and he then added an NBA-range three-pointer as the shot clock was about to expire to push the Mount lead to 52-45.

LIU's Gerrell Martin converted a pair of free throws, but Robinson gave the Mount a 59-49 lead with five consecutive points, the final three on a traditional three-point play with 1:52 left.  From there, the Mount was able to secure the win.

Ashe and Miller each scored nine points for the Mount in the game while Graves chipped in six points and eight rebounds.  LIU's Martin led all scorers with 20 points while adding seven rebounds.

The Mount held LIU to 35.8 percent shooting in the game, and a 3-of-13 performance (.231) from beyond the arc.  Mount St. Mary's shot 16-of-27 (.593) in the second half to finish 23-of-54 (.426)  from the floor in the win.

Mount St. Mary's returns home to face Robert Morris on Thursday, January 22, for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off at Knott Arena.

Game Notes:  LIU Brooklyn holds a 29-25 lead in the all-time series…This is the Mount's first road win against the Blackbirds since an 80-66 victory on January 26, 2008.
