MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary's topped Wagner, 9-5, on Saturday to earn the team's first win of the season. Mark Hojnoski led the way with a career-high five points on three goals and two assists. Kyle McDonough added two goals and an assist with Mike Pascali chipping in a goal and three assists in the victory. Goalkeeper Chris Klaiber made 15 saves while allowing just five goals for the Mountaineers.
ABOUT THE PIONEERS: Sacred Heart fell to first-place Saint Joseph's, 21-9, this past Saturday to fall to 5-8 overall and 3-2 in the Northeast Conference. Cody Marquis and Alex Miller led Sacred Heart with two goals and one assist each in the game. Saint Joseph's raced to a 12-3 halftime lead en route to the victory. Marquis (23g, 15a) and Miller (21g, 17a) are tied for the team lead with 38 points each this season. Matt Gannon (10g, 17a) and Mike Mawdsley (23g, 4a) each have 27 points this year. Ryan Hughes (12.68 GAA, .485 SV Pct.) has started the past seven games in goal while Jon Flood (10.23 GAA, .550 SV Pct.) has started five times on the year.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: Mount St. Mary's is 13-0 all-time in the series with Wagner that began in 2000. This will be the first meeting between the two teams at Waldron Family Stadium since a 22-5 Mount win on April 23, 2011. Last season, the Mountaineers posted a 14-7 win at Wagner on April 27.
LAST YEAR'S MEETING: Mount St. Mary's holds a 6-1 lead in the all-time series with Sacred Heart that began in 2000. The Pioneers, however, won the last meeting between the two teams, 14-5, at Waldron Family Stadium last season.
