Mount Breaks Pair of School Records at ECAC/IC4A Championships on Saturday

Boston, Mass. (March 8, 2014)--Mount St. Mary's set a pair of school records on a successful day at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Saturday.  Maria Borland broke the school mark in the 800-meter run while the men's 4x800-meter relay also set a new school standard.

Maria Borland finished in eighth-place with a school-record time of 2:10.32 in the 800m to earn a spot in Sunday's finals.  Twin sister Stephanie finished in 13th place, posting a time of 2:12.17, which is fourth on the Mount's all-time list.

The men's 4x800m relay team of Tommy Gruschow, Sean Fritz, Christopher Eltringham and Kody Wilson finished with a mark of 7:35.64 to finish in seventh in the field to also earn a spot in Sunday's finals.

Pole vaulter Elissa Ingram cleared 3.75m (12' 3.5") to finish in fifth place to earn All-East honors.  Coby Rosemier-Gussio was fourth in the heptathlon with a personal-best 5,003 points.

Mount freshmen Josh Poole and Julian Woods had nice performances as well.  Poole set a personal-best with a time of 64:27 in the 500m, which is good for sixth on the Mount's all-time list.  Poole advanced to Sunday's finals.

Woods had a mark of 48.68 in the 400m dash, the seventh-best mark in Mount history.  He also was 11th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.25 seconds.

In the men's 800m run, Eltringham was 19th with a personal-best time of 1:53.66, which is sixth on the Mount's all-time list.  Wilson was 26th with a mark of 1:54.37.

Genamarie McCant had a time of 1:16.16 in the 500m while Jessica Whitmore ran a time of 7.70 in the 60m dash.  Kristen Galligan had a time of 17:38.26 in the 5000m.
