MOUNT UPDATE: Strong pitching has been the story for the Mount in the early going of 2014 with the pitching staff not yielding a run in the team's last 15 innings. With a 6-5 record, the Mount is tied for second in the league with six wins. The Mount is coming off back-to-back 1-0 shutouts of Florida Atlantic and Temple to conclude the USF Under Armour Invitational.

LAST TIME OUT: The Mount went 3-2 at the USF Under Armour Invitational with victories over Toledo, Florida Atlantic and Temple. Nicole Pagano made four appearances, winning three games and not allowing an earned run at the event. At the dish, freshman Rachel Heinze went 5-for-13 (.385), including a grand slam in a 12-11 victory over Toledo.

CHASING HISTORY: With 43 career wins, senior pitcher Nicole Pagano is three away from tying the program's Division I record of 46 victories set by Jamie Fowler in 2009. Pagano began the season tied for second in school history with 38 wins.

BETTER START: The Mountaineers are off to a fast start to the 2014 campaign. The Mount won its sixth game on March 2 in the team's 11th game of the season. Last year, the Mount did not win its sixth game until March 23 in the squad's 18th tilt.

ABOUT BINGHAMTON: The 3-5 Bearcats have recorded wins over South Florida, Wright State and Seton Hall early in the season. Demi Laney has earned the win in all three of Binghamton's victories with 16 strikeouts in 29.1 innings of work. Five different Bearcats have batting averages better than .300, led by Lisa Cadogan's .350 average.

ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON: The Colonials have faced a grueling schedule, facing ranked teams Kentucky, LSU and Minnesota, among others. With a 1-13 start to the season, George Washington's lone win was a 2-1 victory over UNC Greensboro. GW has been outscored 100-34 on the season despite having two players in Megan Linn (.326 BA) and Jillian Galich (.314 BA) hitting over .300.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. TOURNAMENT OPPONENTS: The Mount is 1-1 against Binghamton with both matchups coming in 2005. The Mount has lost six in a row to GW and holds a 7-10 record in the all-time series. 

UP NEXT: The Mount plays a doubleheader at George Washington on Tuesday, March 11.
