FIRST FIVE

1.The Mount dropped a heart-breaker, 46-45, at American on Saturday.  American's Pee Wee Gardner's lay-up with 0.5 seconds left provided the winning basket.  The Mount had taken the 45-44 lead on a Khalid Nwandu three-pointer with 2:23 left.  Andrew Smeathers, in his first game in a Mount uniform, had eight points while Gregory Graves added eight points and six boards.  Taylor Danaher had his best game of the year with six points while matching a career high with 12 rebounds.  The Mount had rallied from a 39-32 deficit with seven minutes remaining to take the lead.

2. The halftime score has been a good indicator on the outcome of the game under head coach Jamion Christian.  The Mountaineers are 27-4 when leading at the half under Christian, and just 8-32 when trailing.  This season, the Mount is 2-0 at the half when leading, and is 1-6 when trailing.

3.The Mount is 3-6 this season in non-conference action with two games remaining.  The Mount has recorded just one non-conference season with a winning record (5-4 in 2002-03) since joining NCAA Division I in 1988-89.

4. The Mountaineers point guard tandem of Junior Robinson and Khalid Nwandu are averaging a combined 11.5 points and 4.9 assists this season.  Over the past four games, the duo has combined to average 14.3 points and 5.5 assists.

5.  Mount St. Mary's closes out the non-conference schedule at Old Dominion on Monday, December 29.  The game will air live on the American Sports Network at 8:00 p.m.
