DAY TWO RESULTS: Morning Session | Evening Session
Lancaster, Pa. (November 22, 2014) – The Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team completed another successful day at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by a school record in the 800 free relay and a win by Erin Regan in the 100 fly.
In the 800 free relay, the team consisting of Haley Fournier, Regan, Juliette Lacoste and Amanda Moore posted a 7:43.09 first-place finish to set a meet and program record for the event. The meet record of 7:47.06 was held by Bloomsburg's relay team in 2001, while the previous program record was 7:45.57, set by Moore, Lenna Castro Marquez, Regan and Fournier at the 2014 Northeast Conference Championships.
Individually, Regan bested the field to win the finals of the 100 fly with a 56.90 performance. The senior from Ft. Washington, Pa. qualified for the finals with a 58.88 finish in the prelims, good enough for third. The Mount added another win in the B Finals of the 100 fly courtesy of Anne Thelen in 59.73.
In the 100 back, Moore nearly set another school record with her finals time of 58.79 to place second overall. Cat Coppler holds the current record of 58.63, which was set at the 2012 Northeast Conference Championships.
After taking eighth in the prelims of the 400 IM in 4:49.91, Fournier trimmed more than 10 seconds with a 4:39.52 finish to take third overall in the finals. Her time in the finals was just over two seconds off her school record of 4:37.47 from last season's NEC Championships.
Also competing in the 400 IM, sophomore Sarah Bonson won the B Finals by clocking in at 4:40.05 following a qualifying time of 4:51.43 during the morning session.
The Mount's 200 medley relay team of Morgan Runk, Fournier, Regan and Thelen put together a third-place finish in 1:49.87 in the finals.
In the finals of the 50 free, Moore took third in the A Finals in 24.46, while Regan placed first in the B Finals with a time of 24.51.
In the team competition, Stevens Institute of Technology leads the pack with 443 points, followed closely by Washington & Lee in second with 424. Mount St. Mary's currently stands in third place overall with a two-day total of 342 points.
