Mount St. Mary's Men's Basketball Hosts Maryland-Eastern Shore for Home Opener on Wednesday Night

1.  Mount St. Mary's opened the 2014-15 season with a 78-55 loss at No. 2 Arizona this past Friday.  Kristijan Krajina paced the Mount with 13 points while Byron Ashe chipped in 12.  The Mountaineers cut the deficit to 51-44 on a Will Miller three-pointer midway through the second half, but Arizona was able to pull away down the stretch for the victory.

2.  The Mountaineers have won five of their past six home openers, including a 68-64 win over American last season.  The Mount has won two consecutive home openers, and are 17-9 in home openers since moving to NCAA Division I in 1988-89.  The Mount is 20-5 at home under head coach Jamion Christian.

3.  Maryland-Eastern Shore has opened the 2014-15 season with road losses to Virginia Tech (71-46) and Villanova (81-44). Monday night, UMES fell behind to No. 12 Villanova, 45-14, at the half.  Devin Martin led the Hawks with a double-double of 17 points and 10 boards.  Michael Myers added 14 points in the loss.  Martin leads UMES in scoring at 13.0 points per game while Myers is averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds.  UMES is averaging just 45.0 points over the first two games of the season.

4.  Freshman point guard Junior Robinson started at No. 2 Arizona in his collegiate debut.  Robinson, who is the shortest player in NCAA Division I at 5-5, finished with three points, three rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes of action.
 
5.  The Mount was picked to finish in fifth place in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches poll.  The Mountaineers were picked sixth in last year's preseason poll.
