Washington, D.C. (March 9, 2013)— Mount St. Mary's dropped both games in a road doubleheader at George Washington, falling by scores of 9-1 and 6-2 on Saturday. Cat Clifford hit her team-leading fifth home run on the day.

The Mount (1-11) fell behind in the first game as the Colonials (5-10) built a 7-0 lead through three innings. In the top of the fourth, the Mountaineers scored their only run of the game on Clifford's shot over the left field fence. The home run was the 12th of her career, which moves her to sixth on the Mount's career list. Her five on the season tie her for fourth among juniors in school history.

The Colonials added runs in the fifth and sixth innings for the 9-1 win.

In the second game, George Washington scored a first-inning run, then broke the game open with four more in the bottom of the fourth for a 5-0 lead.

The Mount got two runs back in the top of the fifth. Kendra Hayward reached on a bunt single then scored on a George Washington throwing error. Two batters later, Clifford recorded a sacrifice fly to right field for the second run of the inning, trimming the Mount's deficit to 5-2.

Autumn Taylor's solo home run in the bottom of the fifth turned out to be an insurance run for GW in the 6-2 win.
