Emmitsburg, Md. (March 2, 2013)--Mount St. Mary's lost to Towson, 13-5, in men's lacrosse action at Waldron Family Stadium on Saturday evening.  Brett Schmidt had two goals and an assist to pace the Mountaineers in the loss.

The Mount took the early lead on a Schmidt goal 1:39 into the game.  After Towson evened the score, Andrew Scalley scored with 5:32 left in the first quarter to give the Mountaineers a 2-1 lead.  The Tigers (2-3) answered with an Andrew Hodgson goal to make it 2-2 after one quarter of play.

Trailing 6-2 in the third quarter, the Mount rallied with three consecutive goals to cut the deficit to 6-5.  Daniel Stranix, Cody Lehrer and Brett Schmidt provided the scores, but Towson was able to close out the quarter with goals from DeNapoli and Andrew Hodgson for an 8-5 lead. 

Schmidt led the Mount with two goals and an assist.  He stretched his consecutive games streak with at least one goal to 33, the longest such streak in the nation.  DeNapoli led Towson with three goals and an assist while Hodgson also had a hat trick.

Towson goalkeeper Andrew Wascavage was outstanding in the game, making 12 saves while allowing just five goals.  Mount goalkeeper Adam Borgogelli made 11 saves in the loss.

Towson held a 36-to-32 advantage in shots in the game. 

The Mount is back in action on Tuesday, March 5, with a 5:00 p.m. game at Johns Hopkins.
