Radford, Va. (November 23, 2013) -- The Mount women's swimming team concluded the Radford Invitational with three victories on Saturday to finish in second place overall with 704 points. Sophomore Haley Fournier broke her third school record in three days, topping the program's previous best time in the 1650 free by more than a minute.
As a team, the 704 points is the most the Mount has ever scored at the Radford Invitational. Campbell won the team competition with 1,051.5 points, while the Mount was able to pull away from Radford, which took third with 643.5 points. UNC Asheville, Millersville and North Carolina A&T rounded out the field.
Fournier beat the next competitor in the 1650 free by more than 10 seconds with a time of 17:08.14. She also shattered the Mount's program record previously held by Erin Regan of 18:19.23 by more than a minute.
Regan finished the event on a high note with an individual victory in the 200 fly (2:06.64).
In the 400 free relay, Regan and Fournier teamed with Mollie Walsh and Amanda Moore for a first-place time of 3:33.77.
Moore completed a solid effort on the weekend with the second-best time of the day in the 100 free (53.52), while Fournier's time of 2:27.63 was good for third in the 200 breaststroke.
Morgan Runk, who qualified for the B finals of the 200 backstroke earlier in the day, outperformed most of the competitors in the top final with her 2:11.71 effort. The time turned out to be the third best of any competitor on the day.
The Mount will not compete again until Jan. 25, 2014 at Duquesne.
