JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Mount St. Mary's softball team concluded its 13 games in Florida at the Osprey Invitational on Sunday. The Mount lost 7-0 in eight innings to North Florida and then dropped a 5-1 decision to Delaware State.

Chloe Mizianty (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad) paced the Mount (3-10) with three hits in the two games while Maria Santiago (Buena, N.J./Buena Regional) plated the Mountaineers lone run in the nightcap on a single.

In the nightcap, the Hornets (2-2) posted a run in the first, three in the third and one in the seventh to split the two games with the Mount St. Mary's over the weekend.

The Mount put up its run in the seventh. Lindsey Ruhle (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) reached on an infield single and advanced to second on an error. Mizianty moved Ruhle to third on a single through the left side and Santiago plated Ruhle with a single to left field. The Mountaineers had two runners on with one out, but Delaware State induced a pair of groundout to get out of the jam.

Danni Cummings (Calvert County, Md./Northern) took the loss against Delaware State.

In the opener, Mount St. Mary's and North Florida (10-5) were scoreless through seven innings. The two teams went into the eighth and used the international tiebreaker that led to the Osprey posting seven runs in the inning and taking the contest, 7-0.

Nicole Pagano (Berlin, N.J./St. Joseph) took the loss in the opener. The redshirt sophomore tossed a two-hit shutout in the first seven innings before North Florida scored seven runs (five earned) in the eighth.

The Mount put a couple runners on in the fourth and the sixth with two outs, but could not plate a run. In the seventh, the Mountaineers had runners at first and second with one out after Kelly Hickman (Pasadena, Md/Chesapeake) walked and Mizianty reached on an infield single. The runners moved to second and third on Liz Christiansen's (Etter, Pa./Red Land) and Cat Clifford (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) walked to the load the bases, but a groundout ended the threat and sent the game into extra innings.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the UMBC Tournament on Saturday. The Mount will face Siena at 11:25 a.m. and UMBC at 1:35 p.m.
