JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Alyssa Silipino (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) knocked in what proved to be the decisive run in the sixth to lead Mount St. Mary's past Delaware State 4-3 at the Osprey Tournament in non-conference softball action on Friday. The Mount (3-7) then lost 6-0 to St. Bonaventure in the nightcap.

The Mount scored three runs in the top of the sixth while Silipino's sacrifice fly gave the Mountaineers a 4-1 lead and Mount St. Mary's held on for a 4-3 victory.

Nicole Pagano (Berlin, N.J./St. Joseph) allowed three runs on seven hits with five strikeouts for her third win of the season. Bre Lohman (Sharpsburg, Md./Boonsboro) added a hit and an RBI in the win.

With the game tied at 1, the Mountaineers scored three times in the sixth. Taylor Beebe (Olympia, Wash./Capital) led off the inning with a walk and Liz Christiansen (Etters, Pa./Red Land) was intentionally walked. Lohman singled up the middle to plate Beebe and Christiansen scored on Erin Leddy's (Great Mills, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) fielder's choice. Silipino then scored pinch runner Maria Santiago (Buena, N.J./Buena Regional) on a sacrifice fly to left field for a 4-1 lead.

The Hornets (0-2) responded with two runs in the seventh thanks to a two-run double with one out, but with the tying run on second Pagano got a strikeout and a ground out to end the game.

Mount St. Mary's started the scoring in the game with a run in the third. Alexa Tuck (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) and Holly Buckel (Finksburg, Md./North Carroll) recorded back-to-back singles with one out, moved up a base on a foul out before Tuck scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 edge.

Delaware State answered with a run in the fifth, but the Mount scored three of the final five runs to end a six-game losing streak against the Hornets.

Mount St. Mary's lost the nightcap to the Bonnies (7-6), 6-0. Danni Cummings (Calvert County, Md./Northern) allowed six runs (two earned) on nine hits with nine strikeouts. The freshman held St. Bonaventure to two runs in the first six innings.

The Bonnies scored two runs in the third and four runs in the seventh for their six runs.

The Mount was no-hit in the contest, but had a couple of chances to score in the game.

Chloe Mizianty (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad) reached on an error to lead off the bottom of the first, moved to second on a bunt and to third on a wild pitch with two outs but was stranded on third. The best chance to score came in the fourth after the Mountaineers got runners on second and third thanks to a walk and an error with one out. St. Bonaventure got out of the jam with a strikeout and a pop out.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Saturday against McNeese State. Game time is 11:45 a.m.
