opening tip... Saturday's game between Mount St. Mary's and Quinnipiac marks the 25th meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1986-87 season.
• The Bobcats lead the series 17-7, including an 8-4 mark in Hamden.
• The Bobcats have won the last three meetings, including an 89-73 decision in the lone meeting this season on Jan. 30.
• The Mount has posted four of its seven wins in the series in Hamden.
•  Mount St. Mary's last win in the series was an 86-73 win on Jan. 30, 2010.  

about the bobcats... Quinnipiac comes into the contest 21-8 overall and 13-5 in the Northeast Conference after falling 77-71 to Saint Francis (Pa.) on Monday.
• Freshman G Jasmine Martin paced Quinnipiac with 15 points against the Red Flash. Martin registered 16 points in a 66-41 win against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Feb. 20. The freshman is second on the squad with 10.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
• Redshirt junior G Felicia Barron added 13 points and seven steals in the regular season finale. The redshirt junior notched 21 points in a 72-62 loss against Robert Morris on Feb. 25. Barron leads the team with 17.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.
• Senior G Kari Goodchild chipped in 10 points against Saint Francis (Pa.). The senior added 14 points against the Terriers. Goodchild ranks fourth on the team with 6.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore F Brittany McQuain ranks third on the team with 10.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. The sophomore posted 18 points in a 54-51 victory against LIU Brooklyn on Feb. 18.

last time we met... Quinnipiac defeated Mount St. Mary's 89-73 on Jan. 30, 2012. Sydney Henderson paced the Mount with 23 points while Kayla Grossett notched her first career 20-point performance with a career-best 21 points. Felicia Barron fueled six Bobcats in double figures with 19 points. Samantha Guastella (14 points), Jasmine Martin (13 points), Kari Goodchild (11 points), Jacinda Dunbar (10 points) and Brittany McQuain (10 points) also found double figures.

quick hits on the ccsu game... Central Connecticut State defeated the Mount 72-68 on Monday.
• Sophomore Jessie Kaufman paced the Mount with 19 points against the Blue Devils. Kaufman has started nine of the last 10 games and is averaging 13.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in that stretch. The sophomore has posted at least nine points in nine of those games, including seven double-figure performances. Kaufman has recorded  a 19-point game and 25-point performance in that stetch
• Junior Selina Mann added 12 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals on Monday. The junior is averaging 8.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 5.6 steals per game in her last five contests.
• Sophomore Ashley Christie added 12 points against Central Connecticut State. Christie is averaging 11.0 points per game in her last six tilts.
• Junior Sydney Henderson has posted double-figures in 14 of her last 18 games and is averaging 13.7 points per game in that stretch.
• The Blue Devils used a 21-9 run to close out the first half to take a 10-point lead at halftime. The Mount used a 12-3 run to make it a one-point game with 16:45 left. Central Connecticut State scored 12 of the next 14 points to regain a double-digit advantage and the Mount could get no closer than four points the rest of the way.
• The loss ended the Mount's six-game winning streak, its longest since the 2000-01 season.
• With the loss, the Mount dropped to the No. 7 seed in the NEC Tournament. A Mount victory would have made the Mountaineers the No. 6 seed in the tournament.

all-conference... Junior Selina Mann has been named to the All-Northeast Conference second team, announced on Wednesday.
• It marks the 25th time in program history a Mount player has been selected to the all-conference team and the 10th second-team section.
• Mann is the first player since Dita Krumberga in 2005-06 to earn All-NEC recognition.
• The junior is the second player under head coach Bryan Whitten to receive postseason recognition. Mary Dunn was named to the All-Rookie team in 2006-07.

northeast conference history... Mount St. Mary's will be making its 21st appearance in the last 23 seasons in 2012.
• Mount St. Mary's is 17-17 in the NEC Tournament.
• The Mountaineers have not won a tournament game since a 50-45 win against Sacred Heart on Mar. 4, 2001.
• Mount St. Mary's won tournaments in 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95, including earning the league's first two NCAA Division I bids.

the seed of all things... Mount St. Mary's will be the No. 7 seed for the second time in program history.
• The Mount was the No. 7 seed in 2004-05 and lost to Sacred Heart.

• The Mount will be playing its seventh road game in the league's postseason and is 0-6 in the previous six tilts.
• The Mountaineers are 11-5 at home and 6-6 at a neutral site.

looking to end the drought... Mount St. Mary's has lost its last nine games in the NEC Tournament.
• The squad has not won a post season game since defeating Sacred Heart 50-45 on Mar. 4, 2001.

mount and quinnipiac... Saturday's meeting between Mount St. Mary's and Quinnipiac will mark the second meeting between the two teams in the NEC Tournament.
• The Bobcats downed the Mount 66-56 on Mar. 8, 2008 in Brooklyn in the No. 1 vs. No. 8 quarterfinals.
 • In that game, the Mount grabbed a 43-32 lead with 17:06 remaining before Quinnipiac closed the game on a 34-13 run to earn the victory.
• Mary Dunn paced the Mountaineers with 18 points and 13 rebounds while Dominique Mazzuchi added 11 points.
• Mandy Pennewell fueled the Bobcats with 18 points while Brianna Rooney and Erin Kerner each chipped in 11 points.

next on tap... The winner of the game between Mount St. Mary's and Quinnipiac will move to the NEC Semifinals.
• The NEC will reseed the tournament after the first round. With a win, the Mount will travel to the highest remaining seed unless No. 8 Fairleigh Dickinson defeats top seed Sacred Heart and then the Mount will head to the second highest remaining seed in the tournament.

the experience... Head coach Bryan Whitten is 0-2 in the NEC Tournament.
• Senior Sandra Andresson is the only player on the roster to play in an NEC Tournament game. Andresson had six points and three rebounds against Sacred Heart in 2009.

the end of the streak... The 72-68 loss to Central Connecticut State on Monday ended the Mount's six-game winning streak.
• It was the longest winning streak since winning six straight in 2000-01.
• It marks the first time since the 1998-99 season the Mountaineers finished the regular season by winning six of its last seven games.
• It will be the seventh time the Mount has won at least six of its last seven regular season games. In the previous six times, the team has won at least one postseason contest.

january 30th, a turning point of the season?... Mount St. Mary's lost to Quinnipiac 89-72 on Jan. 30, but since that point the Mount finished the regular season 6-2.
• The Mount is averaging 67.1 points per game since the game against the Bobcats and has posted six games with 68 points or better in that stretch after posting only two games over 68 points in the first 20 games of the season.
• Junior Sydney Henderson is averaging 14.0 points per game while sophomore Jessie Kaufman is averaging 13.7 points per game in that stretch.

one giant steal for mann, one hundred steal's for mann this season... Junior Selina Mann established a new program record with 11 steals against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18.
• Mann became the first player in program history to record 10 steals in a game twice in her career and is joined by Karla Green (at Richmond, Feb. 20, 1983) and Kim Rhock (Saint Francis (Pa.), Jan. 14, 1990) as the only players in team history with double digits in steals.
• In addition, Mann became the first player in program history to record 100 assists and 100 steals in a single season.
• The junior moved into sixth place for career steals in program history with 243 thefts.

state of the mount... Mount St. Mary's finished the regular season 14-15 overall and 10-8 in Northeast Conference play.
• The Mount has match the most wins under head coach Bryan Whitten with its 14 victories after the squad also won 14 games in 2008-09.
• The Mount would need to advance to the NEC Championship game to notch its first non-losing season since 2001-02
• At 10-8 in the league, the Mount posted its best conference mark since 2006-07 when the squad was 10-8 .
• In addition, the Mountaineers posted its first 10 win season at Knott Arena since 1999-00 when the squad went 10-1. The Mount finished the regular season 10-4 and registered 10 wins for the 10th time at Knott Arena in program record.

in the nec... The Mount leads the Northeast Conference in 3-point field goals made (6.48) and 3-point field goal percentage (.336) while ranking third in turnover margin (+2.17), fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (0.81), fourth in free throw percentage (.706), fifth in steals (9.66) and fifth in scoring defense (61.0).
• Junior Selina Mann ranks in the Top-10 in four categories, including second in steals (3.93), third in assists-to-turnover ratio (1.60), fifth in assists (4.79) and 10th in minutes played (32.72). Junior Sydney Henderson ranks fourth in minutes played (34.97) and fifth in 3-point field goals made (1.72) while sophomore Jessie Kauffman is fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (.384) and sophomore Ashley Christie is seventh in 3-point field goal percentage (.343).

on the road... Junior Sydney Henderson is averaging 11.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in 15 road games this season.
• The junior has registered double figures nine times on the road, including a pair of 18-point performance, 20 points at Towson on Nov. 22 and 23 points at Quinnipiac on Jan. 30. Henderson is averaging 13.8 points per game in her last eight games away from Knott Arena.
• Sophomore Jessie Kaufman has six double-figure performances on the road, including posting double digits in five of her last six games and is averaging 12.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in that stretch. Kaufman has scored 19 points against UMES on Nov. 15 and against Central Connecticut State on Feb. 27.
•  Junior Selina Mann has posted double figures five times and sophomore Kayla Grossett  has four double-digit performances on the road. Grossett notched a career-high 21 points against the Bobcats.
•  Senior Sandra Andresson and sophomore Ashley Christie each have three 10-point performances on the road. Sophomore Kelly Guerriero has post of both of her double-digit performances on the road, including a career-high 14 points against Bryant on Feb. 25. Junior Tara Lonergan notched 11 points at Wagner on Feb. 15 and sophomore Rachel Mathews posted 10 points at American on Nov. 22.
• The Mount is averaging 57.1 points per game while allowing 65.1 points per game on the road. The squad is shooting 37.5 from the field away from Knott Arena.
• Mount St. Mary's is 4-11 this season on the road and 3-6 in league games.
• The Mount has scored at least 68 points in the last four games away from Emmitsburg.

at the knott or not at the knott, that is the question... Mount St. Mary's is averaging 2.3 points more at home than on the road, but the major stat discrepancy comes on the defensive side.

• Junior Sydney Henderson is averaging 13.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in her last five contests. Henderson has scored double figures in three of her last five games and posted back-to-back 19-point performances in that stretch.

•  Kaufman, who has started nine of the last 10 games, has registered at least nine points in nine of those games and eight double-digit performances.
• With a double-digit contest against Quinnipiac, Kaufman will have posted double figures in eight-straight games to match teammate Sydney Henderson's streak from earlier this season.
•  She is averaging 8.6 points per game this season.
• Kaufman notched a career-high 25 points against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb 18.
• She has scored at least eight points 17 times this season, including 10 games with 12 points or more.
• The sophomore has 13 double-digit performances in her career.

sydney on the rise and not down under... Junior Sydney Henderson has registered double figures in 14 of her last 18 games.
•  Henderson is averaging 13.7 points per game in that stretch and has recorded 18 points, 19 points (twice), 23 points and a career-high 25 points during that stretch.
• The junior notched her first collegiate double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18. It was her second 10 board game this season after registering a career-high 12 caroms against Rider on Dec. 29.
• Henderson has posted 17 10-point performances this season, including two 20-point games.

moving in on the all-time charts... Senior Sandra Andresson is making a move on the program's all-time career games started list. The senior sits in fourth place with 101 career starts.
• In addition, the senior moved into second place in career games played with 116 and will tie Mary Dunn's (117, 2007-11) program record.
• Junior Selina Mann moved into sixth place on the program's all-time career steals list with 243. The junior can move into fourth place with 26 steals.
• Mann's 114 steals this season are the third most on the program's single-season chart and the most in the Mount's Division I history.
• In addition, Mann has 312 career steals and can move into the Top-10 with five helpers.

little women... Two of the Mount's top three rebounders this season are in the squad's starting backcourt.
• Junior Selina Mann, a 5-4 guard, leads the team with 4.9 rebounds per game. The junior has grabbed five caroms in a contest 16 times this year including 10 rebounds against American on Nov. 18, Sacred Heart on Jan. 28 and Wagner on Feb. 11.
• Junior Sydney Henderson, a 5-6 guard, ranks third on the squad with 4.1 rebounds per game. She has hauled in five boards in a game 10 times this season, including a career-high 12 rebounds against Rider on Dec. 29 and 10 caroms against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18. She is averaging 5.2 rebounds per game at home.
• Sophomore Ashley Christie, a 5-8 guard, also has a 10-rebound performance on her resume this season after hauling in 10 boards against American.
• Sophomore Rachel Mathews, a 6-0 sophomore, is tied with Henderson for second with 4.1 rebounds per game.

tale of the offensive numbers... Mount St. Mary's has scored 80 points in a game once, 70 point in a game five times, between 60-69 points eight times, between 50-59 points eight times, between 40-49 points six times and under 40 points once.
• The Mount is 1-0 when it reached 80 points in a game, 3-2 when reached 70 points in a game, 5-3 when it scores in the 60's, 3-5 when it scores in the 50's and 2-5 when it is held under 50 points.
• The Mount has scored over 60 points in five of its last five games.

second-chance points... Mount St. Mary's has been outrebounded in 20 of the 29 games this season.
• The opponent has registered 336 second-chance points to the Mount's 227.

• Christie is averaging 8.7 points per game in 11 weekend games this season. The sophomore posted a season-high 16 points against Navy on Nov. 26, 14 points against Loyola on Dec. 10, 12 points against Bryant on Jan. 14 and 15 points against Wagner on Feb. 11.
• Christie is averaging 10.9 points per game in 14 weekend league games.
• The sophomore posted 12 of her 21 double-digit performances on the weekend.   

career highlights... Sophomore Kelly Guerriero had a career-high 14 points against Bryant on Feb. 25.
• Sophomore Jessie Kaufman notched a career-best 25 points against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18.
• Sophomore Kayla Grossett scored a career-high 21 points against Quinnipiac on Jan. 30.
• Junior Sydney Henderson scored a career-high 25 points against Central Connecticut State on Jan. 18.

man oh mann, selina... Mount St. Mary's can pretty much count on getting five from junior Selina Mann every game. The only question is will it be five points, five rebounds, five assists or five steals.
• This season, Mann has posted at a five spot in two categories seven times, three categories nine times and in four categories four this season.
• Mann has posted a five spot in one of those categories in 66 of the 87 games.
• The junior has posted a five spot in two of those categories 22 times, 11 times in three categories and six times in four different categories.
• She has scored five points 46 times in her career, including 17 two-digit performances and a career-high 26 at San Jose State on Dec. 29, 2010.
• The 5-4 guard has posted five rebounds 28 times in her career, including four 10-board performances.
• Mann has dished out five assists 29 times in her career including a career-high 10 assists against Wagner on Feb. 11.
• The junior has registered five steals in a game 15 times in her career, including establishing a new program record with 11 steals against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18.
• Mann leads the team with four double-doubles. She has two points-rebounds tricks, one points-steals and one rebounds-assists double-double. She is only the third player in Mount Division I history with a double-double that includes steals. The junior recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds against American on Nov. 18.

henderson gets in the record books... Junior Sydney Henderson hit six 3-pointers against Monmouth on Jan. 9. It was the eighth most in a single game in program history.
• The junior became the fifth player in program history to connect on six or more shots from behind the arc.
• It was the first time a player made more than five 3's in a game since Lauren Howell against Wagner on Jan. 28, 2008.

the need to dial long distance for 1-2-3... The NCAA changed the three-point line for the 2011-12 women's basketball season to 20 feet, nine inches, which is the same distance men's basketball has been using for several years.
• Last season, the Mount led the Northeast Conference in 3-point field goal percentage (.355) and had three players rank in the Top-10 in the category.  
• The Mount is 188-for-559 this season from behind the arc, including four games with at least 10 baskets from behind the arc.
•  The Mount went 13-for-23 against Towson on Nov. 22. The 13 made 3-pointers tied a program record. The squad also hit 13 treys against North Carolina on Feb. 27, 1989. The squad also went 12-for-27 against Bryant on Feb. 25 to notch the third-most in program history and 11 treys against Monmouth on Jan. 9, which ranks fifth best in team history.
• Junior Sydney Henderson leads the team with 50 baskets from behind the arc while sophomore Jessie Kaufman has 38.

in the league... The Mount is 256-150 in Northeast Conference play, including 147-60 at Knott Arena and 109-90 on the road.

in their collegiate debut... Freshman Mariah Powell was the lone freshman to make her collegiate debut in the season opener against Binghamton.
• Powell entered the game with 67 seconds left and registered her first career points on a pair of free throws with 52 seconds left and her first collegiate rebound with 19 ticks on the clock.
• Fellow freshmen Jen Carney and Melanie Mocniak  made their collegiate debut after entering the game against Pittsburgh with 1:50 left on Nov. 29.
• Carney notched her first collegiate basket in the second half against LIU Brooklyn on Dec. 3 and finished with a career-high five points.

would the real jessie kaufman please stand up... There are now to Jessica Kaufman's in the Northeast Conference.
• Sophomore Jessie Kaufman is in her second season at the Mount while freshman Jessica Kaufman joined the St. Francis (N.Y.) team this season.

in the month... In March, the Mount is 40-39 and 27-25 since switching to Division I.
• The Mount is 1-9 in its last 10 games in the month.
• The Mount is 1-3 under head coach Bryan Whitten in the month, but the squad has not played in March in two seasons.

in the non-conference slate... Mount St. Mary's is 79-122 in non-conference games since joining the Northeast Conference in 1989-90.

home sweet home... In its 25th season at Knott Arena, Mount St. Mary's has posted a 218-107 overall mark, including 74-45 in non-conference play and 144-62 in league play since moving across Route 15 from Memorial Gym.

hearing your name called at the start... Head coach Bryan Whitten has only had 19 players start in his four-year tenure at the Mount.
• The Mount has used eight different starting lineups this season, the most under Whitten.
• Senior Sandra Andresson has started 100 of the 115 games she has played.
• Junior  Sydney Henderson started 39 of the 54 games she has played.
• Junior Tara Lonergan has started 19 games in her career.

preseason poll... The Mount St. Mary's women's basketball team has been picked 11th in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Coaches Poll. Five of the 12 teams in the league garnered first place votes with Saint Francis (Pa.) being tabbed the preseason favorite after picking up four first place nods. Robert Morris, LIU Brooklyn, Monmouth and Sacred Heart each picked up two first place votes apiece. The Colonials and Blackbirds placed 2-3 in the poll while the Hawks and Pioneers finished tied for fourth. Quinnipiac, Fairleigh Dickinson, Bryant, Central Connecticut State, Wagner, Mount St. Mary's and St. Francis (N.Y.) rounded out the 12-team poll.

let's play to 60 points... Mount St. Mary's is most successful under head coach Bryan Whitten when it scores 60 points in a game or holds the opponent under that total.
• The Mount is 32-24 when it scores 60 points in a game, but 22-68 when it does not reach 60 points.
• Defensively, the Mountaineers are 41-29 when the opponents are held under 60 points and 13-63 when the opponent reaches 60 points.

three keys to whitten success... The Mount is most successful under head coach Bryan Whitten when the squad leads at halftime, in rebounding or keeps the opponent under 60 points.
• The Mount is 40-16 when he holds the lead at halftime, 3-3 when the game is tied, but just 11-73 when trailing at the break.
• The squad is 22-19 when it holds a rebounding edge in a game, but just 27-70 when the opponent has the advantage and 2-5 when the two teams have equal boards.
• Mount St. Mary's is 41-29 when it holds opponents under 60 points.

hitting 20 points in a game... Senior Sandra Andresson, juniors Sydney Henderson and Selina Mann and sophomores Ashley Christie,Kayla Grossett and Jessie Kaufman are the only five players on the roster that has scored 20 points in a game.
• Henderson has reached 20 points in a game three times this season.The junior posted 20 points against Towson on Nov. 22, a career-high 25 points against Central Connecticut State on Jan. 16 and 23 points against Quinnipiac on Jan. 30.
• Grossett became the second player this season to score 20 points. The sophomore registered a career-best 21 points against Quinnipiac on Jan. 30.
• Kaufman is the third player this season to reach 20 points with a career-high 25 against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18.
• Mann scored a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29, 2010.
• Christie posted a career-high 21 points against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 5, 2011.

new to the mountain... Head coach Bryan Whitten added four players to his 2011-12 team. Freshmen Jen Carney, Melanie Mocniak, Mariah Powell and Lindsay Williams all joined the team this season.
• Sophomore Jacqueline Brewer also joined the team, but will have to sit out this season due to NCAA transfer regulations. Brewer comes to the Mount after playing at Virginia Commonwealth last year.

the underlining whit... Head coach Bryan Whitten is in his fifth season at the Mount. The Mount is 54-92 overall under Whitten.
• The Mount is 28-39 overall at Knott Arena and 21-25 in NEC play under Whitten.
• The Mountaineers on the road are 26-52 overall mark away from Emmitsburg and 14-30 in league play.
• Whitten picked up his first Mount win with a 55-51 decision at Lafayette on Nov. 17, 2007 and earned his 25th career in at Lafayette on Nov. 30, 2009.

out of africa... Former women's basketball player Leah Westbrooks was named the recipient of the Shooting Touch Inc. Sabbatical Program grant.
• Westbrooks received $25,000 to help with travel cost and expenses on her 10-month international independent study in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Westbrooks is currently in South Africa to work with the Hoops for Hope group and Western Zimbabwe with the Matilda Project.
