opening tip... Monday's game between Mount St. Mary's and Monmouth marks the 46th meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1977-78 season.
• The Mount leads the series 29-16, including a 14-7 mark at Knott Arena.
• The Hawks defeated the Mount 59-52 in the first meeting this season in West Long Branch on Jan. 9.
• Monmouth has won seven of the last nine meetings.

about the hawks... Monmouth comes into the contest 15-11 overall and 10-5 in Northeast Conference play after defeating Wagner 70-54 on Saturday.
• Junior G Alysha Womack paced the Hawks with 16 points against the Seahawks. The junior registered 27 points in a 70-50 win against Sacred Heart on Feb. 6. Womack leads the team with 14.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
• Junior F Abby Martin tallied 13 points and eight rebounds against Wagner. Martin notched 16 points in a 66-45 win against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 23. The junior ranks second on the team with 10.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
• Junior G Chevannah Paalvast chipped in 13 points on Saturday. The junior posted 11 points in a 66-45 win against the Red Flash Paalvast is averaging 6.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
• Senior G Alexis Canady ranks third on the squad with 9.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. The senior added 13 points in the win against the Pioneers.

last time we met... Monmouth defeated Mount St. Mary's 59-52 on Jan. 9. Sydney Henderson paced the Mount with 18 points. The junior connected on six shots from behind the arc, the eighth-most in program history for a single game. Sandra Andresson added 11 points. Abby Martin fueled the Hawks with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Alyssa Womack added 17 points.

quick hits on the fairleigh dickinson... Sophomore Jessie Kaufman scored a career-high 25 points to lead Mount St. Mary's past Fairleigh Dickinson 62-52 on Saturday.
• After the Knights' trimmed the margin to five points, Kaufman drained three straight from behind the arc to give the Mount a 14-point lead and Fairleigh Dickinson could get no closer than six points the rest of the afternoon.
• Kaufman has started six of the last seven games and is averaging 12.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in that stretch. The sophomore has posted at least nine points in six of those games, including five double-figure performance.
• Junior Selina Mann established a new program record with 11 steals against the Knights. Mann, who has two 10-steal performances in her career, now has 100 thefts this season to become the sixth player in program history to reach three digits in steals in a single season. In addition, Mann became the first player in team history with 100 assists and 100 steals in the same season. The junior is averaging 7.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 4.4 steals per game in her last seven contests.
• Junior Sydney Henderson notched her first collegiate double-double after finishing the game with 19 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday. The junior has posted double-figures in 12 of her last 15 games and is averaging 13.7 points per game in that stretch.
• The Mount has won four straight for the first time since the 1999-00 season.

playoff picture... Mount St. Mary's is currently tied for sixth with LIU Brooklyn at 8-7.
• The Mount can clinch its first NEC Tournament berth since 2008-09 with a win against Monmouth or a Central Connecticut State loss to Saint Francis (Pa.) on Monday.
• The Mountaineers could finish as high as third if it wins its three remaining games.
• Mount St. Mary's currently holds the head-to-head tiebreaker against Robert Morris and Bryant while Sacred Heart, Quinnipiac, Monmouth, Saint Francis (Pa.) and Central Connecticut State each are undefeated against the Mount to hold the tiebreaker.
• Mount St. Mary's split the season series with both LIU Brooklyn and Fairleigh Dickinson, but both teams have a win against Quinnipiac, which trumphs the Mount's win against Robert Morris.
• Bryant is not eligible for the postseason, but could affect the postseason since they count in tiebreaker procedures.

next on tap... Mount St. Mary's concludes the regular season on road for the second-straight season at Bryant  on Saturday and at Central Connecticut State  on Feb. 27.

you win one today and you win one tomorrow that's what you call a winning streak... The Mount has notched its second winning streak this season after defeating Robert Morris 80-75 on Feb. 6, Wagner 71-48 on Feb. 11 ,Wagner 68-60 on Feb. 15 and Fairleigh Dickinson 62-51 on Feb. 18.
• The Mountaineers have won four-consecutive games for the first time since 1999-00 when the squad won seven straight.
• It marks the second time this season the Mount has won three or more games in a row after the squad won three-straight games in December with wins against LIU Brooklyn (44-43, Dec. 3), St. Francis (N.Y.) (70-48, Dec. 5) and Loyola (59-54, Dec. 10).

one giant steal for mann, one hundred steal's for mann this season... Junior Selina Mann established a new program record with 11 steals against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18.
• Mann became the first player in program history to record 10 steals in a game twice in her career and is joined by Karla Green (at Richmond, Feb. 20, 1983) and Kim Rhock (Saint Francis (Pa.), Jan. 14, 1990) as the only players in team history with double digits in steals.
• In addition, Mann became the first player in program history to record 100 assists and 100 steals in a single season.
• The junior moved into seventh place for career steals in program history with 229 thefts.

state of the mount... Mount St. Mary's is 12-14 overall and 8-7 in Northeast Conference play this season.
• The Mount has won 10 games for the third time under  
head coach Bryan Whitten. The 12 wins are the second most in his tenure.
• At 8-7 in the league, the Mount has its best conference mark since 2005-06 when the squad was 9-6 through 15 league games.
• In addition, the Mountaineers are 9-4 at home this season, marking the most wins at Knott Arena since 1999-00 when the team went 10-1 in Emmitsburg.
• With a win against Monmouth on Monday, the Mount would post 10 wins at Knott Arena for the 10th time.
• The squad had five wins at Knott Arena in the previous two seasons.
in the nec... The Mount leads the Northeast Conference in 3-point field goals made (6.23) while ranking second in 3-point field goal percentage (.327), third in turnover ratio (+2.08), fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (0.79), fifth in scoring defense (60.7), fifth in free throw percentage (.693).
• Junior Selina Mann ranks in the Top-10 in four categories, including second in steals (3.85), second in assists-to-turnover ratio (1.58), fourth in assists (4.50) and ninth in free throw percentage (.767). Junior Sydney Henderson ranks second in minutes played (34.81) and fifth in 3-point field goals made (1.77) while sophomore Jessie Kauffman is sixth in 3-point field goal percentage (.354).

offensive outburst... Mount St. Mary's has posted 68 points in four of its last six games after reaching 68 points in a game twice in the first 20 games this season.
•  The Mount is averaging 67.5 points per game in the last five contests after averaging 54.2 points per game in the first 20 games of the year.
• Mount St. Mary's scored a season-high 80 points against Robert Morris on Feb. 6.

at the knott... Junior Sydney Henderson is averaging 11.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in 13 home games this season.
• The junior has registered double figures in nine of the 13 games. Henderson had a career-high 25 points against Central Connecticut State on Jan. 16. The junior notched her first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18.
• Sophomore Jessie Kaufman is averaging 9.1 points per game at home. The sophomore has five double-digit performances at Knott Arena, including a career-high 25 points against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18. Kaufman is averaging 17.7 and 5.3 rebounds per game in her last three games in Emmitsburg.
• Sophomore Ashley Christie is averaging 9.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per game at home. Christie has posted six games of at least 10 points at home. The sophomore had a season-high 18 points against Wagner on Feb. 15.
• Junior Selina Mann and sophomore Kayla Grossett each have a pair of double-digit performances while juniors Tara Lonergan and sophomore Rachel Mathews each have one 10-point game at home this season. Mann scored a season-high 14 points against Wagner on Feb. 15.
• The Mount is averaging 59.4 points per game while allowing 56.5 points per game at home. The squad is shooting 36.0 from the field at Knott Arena.
• Mount St. Mary's is 9-4 this season at home and 6-2 in league games.

at the knott or not at the knott, that is the question... Mount St. Mary's is averaging 4.2 points more at home than on the road, but the major stat discrepancy comes on the defensive side.
 • The Mount is allowing 56.5 points per game at Knott Arena and 64.8 points per game on the road.
• The is +5.1 turnovers per game at home, but -0.9 turnovers on the road.

in the last five... The Mount is 4-1 in its last five games.
• Sophomore Jessie Kaufman is averaging 13.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in her last five games. Kaufman has scored double figures in four-straight games, including a career-high 25 points against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18.
• Junior Sydney Henderson is averaging 12.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in her last five contests. Henderson has scored double figures in three of her last five games and notched her first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds against the Knights.
• Sophomore Ashley Christie is averaging 10.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in the last five contests. Christie has posted double figures in three-straight games, including a season-high 18 points against Wagner on Feb. 15.
•Junior Tara Lonergan had 11 points against Wagner on Feb. 11 and junior Selina Mann had 14 points against the Seahawks on Feb. 15.

kaufman not getting a cold... Sophomore Jessie Kaufman has started the last five games and is averaging 12.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in her last seven contests.
•  Kaufman, who has started six of the last seven games, has registered at least nine points in six of those games and five double-digit performances.
•  She is averaging 7.8 points per game this season.
• Kaufman notched a career-high 25 points against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb 18.
• She has scored at least eight points 14 times this season, including seven games with 12 points or more.
• The sophomore has 11 double-digit performances in her career.
• Kaufman grabbed a career-best eight rebounds against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Jan. 23 and against Quinnipiac on Jan. 30.

sydney on the rise and not down under... Junior Sydney Henderson has registered double figures in 12 of her last 15 games.
•  Henderson is averaging 13.7 points per game in that stretch and has recorded 18 points, 19 points, 23 points and a career-high 25 points during that stretch.
• The junior notched her first collegiate double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18. It was her second 10 board game this season after registering a career-high 12 caroms against Rider on Dec. 29.
• Henderson has posted 15 10-point performances this season, including two 20-point games.

moving in on the all-time charts... Senior Sandra Andresson is making a move on the program's all-time career games started list. The senior sits in fifth place with 98 career starts and will move up a spot with three starts.
• In addition, the senior moved into ninth place in career games played with 113 and will move up a spot with her next game played.
• Junior Selina Mann moved into seventh place on the program's all-time career steals list with 229. The junior can move into sixth place with 12 steals.

little women... Two of the Mount's top three rebounders this season are in the squad's starting backcourt.
• Junior Selina Mann, a 5-4 guard, leads the team with 4.9 rebounds per game. The junior has grabbed five caroms in a contest 14 times this year including 10 rebounds against American on Nov. 18, Sacred Heart on Jan. 28 and Wagner on Feb. 11.
• Junior Sydney Henderson, a 5-6 guard, ranks third on the squad with 4.0 rebounds per game. She has hauled in five boards in a game nine times this season, including a career-high 12 rebounds against Rider on Dec. 29 and 10 caroms against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18. She is averaging 4.9 rebounds per game at home.
• Sophomore Ashley Christie, a 5-8 guard, also has a 10-rebound performance on her resume this season after hauling in 10 boards against American.
• Sophomore Rachel Mathews, a 6-0 sophomore, ranks second on the team with 4.4 rebounds per game.

tale of the offensive numbers... Mount St. Mary's has scored 80 points in a game once, 70 point in a game four times, between 60-69 points six times, between 50-59 points eight times, between 40-49 points six times and under 40 points once.
• The Mount is 1-0 when it reached 80 points in a game, 2-2 when reached 70 points in a game, 4-2 when it scores in the 60's, 3-5 when it scores in the 50's and 2-5 when it is held under 50 points.
• The Mount has scored over 60 points in four of its last five games.

second-chance points... Mount St. Mary's has been outrebounded in 18 of the 26 games this season.
• The opponent has registered 298 second-chance points to the Mount's 196.
• The Mountaineers are 4-2 when it outrebounds an opponent with wins against UMES on Nov. 15, St. Francis (N.Y.) on Dec. 5, Bucknell on Dec. 31, Sacred Heart on Jan. 28 and against Wagner on Feb. 11. Mount St. Mary's held a 41-39 edge against the Hawks, a 28-24 margin against the Terriers, a 31-30 edge against the Bison, a 38-37 margin against the Pioneers and a 43-41 advantage against the Seahawks.

i'm a weekend kind of girl... Sophomore Ashley Christie is averaging 10.4 points per game in 24 games on the weekend.
• Christie is averaging 8.7 points per game in 11 weekend games this season. The sophomore posted a season-high 16 points against Navy on Nov. 26, 14 points against Loyola on Dec. 10, 12 points against Bryant on Jan. 14 and 15 points against Wagner on Feb. 11.
• Christie is averaging 10.9 points per game in 14 weekend league games.
• The sophomore posted 12 of her 21 double-digit performances on the weekend.  

career highlights... Sophomore Jessie Kaufman notched a career-best 25 points against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18.
• Sophomore Kayla Grossett scored a career-high 21 points against Quinnipiac on Jan. 30.
• Junior Sydney Henderson scored a career-high 25 points against Central Connecticut State on Jan. 18.
• Sophomore Rachel Mathews had a career-high 11 points versus Bryant on Jan. 14.
• Freshman Mariah Powell scored a career-high nine points against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Dec. 5.

man oh mann, selina... Mount St. Mary's can pretty much count on getting five from junior Selina Mann every game. The only question is will it be five points, five rebounds, five assists or five steals.
• This season, Mann has posted at a five spot in two categories six times, three categories eight times and in four categories three this season.
• Mann has posted a five spot in one of those categories in 63 of the 80 games.
• The junior has posted a five spot in two of those categories 21 times, 10 times in three categories and five times in four different categories.
• She has scored five points 44 times in her career, including 17 two-digit performances and a career-high 26 at San Jose State on Dec. 29, 2010.
• The 5-4 guard has posted five rebounds 27 times in her career, including four 10-board performances.
• Mann has dished out five assists 26 times in her career including a career-high 10assists against Wagner on Feb. 11.
• The junior has registered five steals in a game 13 times in her career, including establishing a new program record with 11 steals against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18.
• Mann leads the team with four double-doubles. She has two points-rebounds tricks, one points-steals and one rebounds-assists double-double. She is only the third player in Mount Division I history with a double-double that includes steals. The junior recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds against American on Nov. 18.

henderson gets in the record books... Junior Sydney Henderson hit six 3-pointers against Monmouth on Jan. 9. It was the eighth most in a single game in program history.
• The junior became the fifth player in program history to connect on six or more shots from behind the arc.
• It was the first time a player made more than five 3's in a game since Lauren Howell against Wagner on Jan. 28, 2008.

the need to dial long distance for 1-2-3... The NCAA changed the three-point line for the 2011-12 women's basketball season to 20 feet, nine inches, which is the same distance men's basketball has been using for several years.
• Last season, the Mount led the Northeast Conference in 3-point field goal percentage (.355) and had three players rank in the Top-10 in the category.  
• The Mount is 162-for-495 this season from behind the arc, including 13-for-23 against Towson on Nov. 22. The 13 made 3-pointers tied a program record. The squad also hit 13 treys against North Carolina on Feb. 27, 1989.
• The Mountaineers also made 11 treys against Monmouth on Jan. 9, which ranks fourth best in team history.
• Junior Sydney Henderson leads the team with 46 baskets from behind the arc while sophomore Ashley Christie has 29.

in the league... The Mount is 253-149 in Northeast Conference play, including 146-60 at Knott Arena and 108-89 on the road.

rock the knott... Mount St. Mary's is 9-4 at Knott Arena this season.
• The Mount is 3-2 in non-conference play and 6-2 in league play in Emmitsburg.
• The Mountaineers will have its first winning mark at Knott Arena since 2006-07 and the eighth time since the 1997-98 season.
• The squad has its first winning record at home in non-conference play since 2008-09 and the third since 1997-98.  The Mountaineers had a winning non-league mark in the first 11 years of the building.
• It marked only the fifth time the squad has opened up by winning its first four games at Knott Arena.

in their collegiate debut... Freshman Mariah Powell was the lone freshman to make her collegiate debut in the season opener against Binghamton.
• Powell entered the game with 67 seconds left and registered her first career points on a pair of free throws with 52 seconds left and her first collegiate rebound with 19 ticks on the clock.
• Fellow freshmen Jen Carney and Melanie Mocniak  made their collegiate debut after entering the game against Pittsburgh with 1:50 left on Nov. 29.
• Carney notched her first collegiate basket in the second half against LIU Brooklyn on Dec. 3 and finished with a career-high five points.

would the real jessie kaufman please stand up... There are now to Jessica Kaufman's in the Northeast Conference.
• Sophomore Jessie Kaufman is in her second season at the Mount while freshman Jessica Kaufman joined the St. Francis (N.Y.) team this season.

in the month... In February, the Mount is 219-107 and 121-70 since switching to Division I.
• The Mountaineers are 76-27 at home and 43-43 on the road since switching to Division I.
• The Mount is 17-19 under head coach Bryan Whitten in the month.

in the non-conference slate... Mount St. Mary's is 79-122 in non-conference games since joining the Northeast Conference in 1989-90.

home sweet home... In its 25th season at Knott Arena, Mount St. Mary's has posted a 217-107 overall mark, including 74-45 in non-conference play and 143-62 in league play since moving across Route 15 from Memorial Gym.

hearing your name called at the start... Head coach Bryan Whitten has only had 19 players start in his four-year tenure at the Mount.
• The Mount has used eight different starting lineups this season, the most under Whitten.
• Senior Sandra Andresson has started 98 of the 113 games she has played.
• Junior  Sydney Henderson started 38 of the 52 games she has played.
• Junior Tara Lonergan has started 19 games in her career.
• Sophomore Ashley Christie has started 53 of 55 games in  her collegiate career.
• Sophomore Rachel Mathews started 18 games, sophomore  Jessie Kaufman ha started 15 games while fellow Kayla Grossett has started five contests.
preseason poll... The Mount St. Mary's women's basketball team has been picked 11th in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Coaches Poll. Five of the 12 teams in the league garnered first place votes with Saint Francis (Pa.) being tabbed the preseason favorite after picking up four first place nods. Robert Morris, LIU Brooklyn, Monmouth and Sacred Heart each picked up two first place votes apiece. The Colonials and Blackbirds placed 2-3 in the poll while the Hawks and Pioneers finished tied for fourth. Quinnipiac, Fairleigh Dickinson, Bryant, Central Connecticut State, Wagner, Mount St. Mary's and St. Francis (N.Y.) rounded out the 12-team poll.

let's play to 60 points... Mount St. Mary's is most successful under head coach Bryan Whitten when it scores 60 points in a game or holds the opponent under that total.
• The Mount is 30-23 when it scores 60 points in a game, but 22-68 when it does not reach 60 points.
• Defensively, the Mountaineers are 40-29 when the opponents are held under 60 points and 12-62 when the opponent reaches 60 points.

three keys to whitten success... The Mount is most successful under head coach Bryan Whitten when the squad leads at halftime, in rebounding or keeps the opponent under 60 points.
• The Mount is 39-16 when he holds the lead at halftime, 2-3 when the game is tied, but just 11-72 when trailing at the break.
• The squad is 22-18 when it holds a rebounding edge in a game, but just 25-70 when the opponent has the advantage and 2-5 when the two teams have equal boards.
• Mount St. Mary's is 40-29 when it holds opponents under 60 points.

hitting 20 points in a game... Senior Sandra Andresson, juniors Sydney Henderson and Selina Mann and sophomores Ashley Christie,Kayla Grossett and Jessie Kaufman are the only five players on the roster that has scored 20 points in a game.
• Henderson has reached 20 points in a game three times this season.The junior posted 20 points against Towson on Nov. 22, a career-high 25 points against Central Connecticut State on Jan. 16 and 23 points against Quinnipiac on Jan. 30.
• Grossett became the second player this season to score 20 points. The sophomore registered a career-best 21 points against Quinnipiac on Jan. 30.
• Kaufman is the third player this season to reach 20 points with a career-high 25 against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18.
• Mann scored a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29, 2010.
• Christie posted a career-high 21 points against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 5, 2011.
• Andresson registered a career-best 25 points against Monmouth on Feb. 7, 2011.
• The Mount has registered 26 20-point performances and two 30-point games under head coach Bryan Whitten. The squad is 14-12 when a player reaches 20 points and 2-0 when a player scores 30 in a contest.

new to the mountain... Head coach Bryan Whitten added four players to his 2011-12 team. Freshmen Jen Carney, Melanie Mocniak, Mariah Powell and Lindsay Williams all joined the team this season.
• Sophomore Jacqueline Brewer also joined the team, but will have to sit out this season due to NCAA transfer regulations. Brewer comes to the Mount after playing at Virginia Commonwealth last year.

northeast conference history... Prior to the last two seasons, the Mount had advanced to 20-straight NEC Tournaments.
• Mount St. Mary's is 17-17 in the NEC Tournament.
• The Mountaineers have not won a tournament game since a 50-45 win against Sacred Heart on Mar. 4, 2001.
• Mount St. Mary's won tournaments in 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95, including earning the league's first two NCAA Division I bids.

the underlining whit... Head coach Bryan Whitten is in his fifth season at the Mount. The Mount is 52-91 overall under Whitten.
• The Mount is 27-39 overall at Knott Arena and 20-25 in NEC play under Whitten.
• The Mountaineers on the road are 25-51 overall mark away from Emmitsburg and 13-29 in league play.
• Whitten picked up his first Mount win with a 55-51 decision at Lafayette on Nov. 17, 2007 and earned his 25th career in at Lafayette on Nov. 30, 2009.

foreign flavor... Mount St. Mary's has two international players on the roster in 2011-12.

• The trio follows Katie Walton (Canada, 1998-02), Dita Krumberga (Latvia, 2004-07), and Leah Westbrooks (Ireland, 2007-11.

out of africa... Former women's basketball player Leah Westbrooks was named the recipient of the Shooting Touch Inc. Sabbatical Program grant.
• Westbrooks received $25,000 to help with travel cost and expenses on her 10-month international independent study in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Westbrooks is currently in South Africa to work with the Hoops for Hope group and Western Zimbabwe with the Matilda Project.
