EMMITSBURG, Md. – Jessie Kaufman (Damascus, Md./Damascus) scored a career-high 25 points to lead Mount St. Mary's past Fairleigh Dickinson 62-51 in Northeast Conference (NEC) women's basketball action on Saturday. Selina Mann (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) broke the program record for steals in a single-game with 11 thefts on the afternoon.

Kaufman helped the seal the victory with three-straight baskets from behind the arc after the Knights (12-15, 7-8 NEC) trimmed the margin to 48-43 with 7:20 on the clock. The sophomore gave the Mount (12-14, 8-7 NEC) a 14-point lead and Fairleigh Dickinson could get no closer than six points the rest of the afternoon. Kaufman went 7-for-15 from the floor, 5 of 6 from 3-point land and 6 of 6 from the free throw line for a career-high 25 points. The Damascus, Md., native also had seven rebounds, an assist and a block.

Mann continues to be a stat hound for the Mountaineers. The junior broke the school record of 10 steals after finishing the contest with 11 thefts. Mann, who had eight steals in the first half, is the first player in program history to reach double-digits in steals twice in her career after recording 10 steals against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Jan, 24, 2011. Karla Green (at Richmond, Jan. 20, 1983) and Kim Rhock (St. Francis (N.Y.), Feb. 13, 1990) are the only other two players in team history with 10 steals in a game. Mann also had seven assists, five rebounds and two points. In addition to her stats, Mann held Fairleigh Dickinson's leading scorer Mariyah Laury to 13 points on 6 of 10 shooting. Laury is the NEC's current NEC Player of the Week after averaging 30 points in her two games last week.

Sydney Henderson (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) notched her first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The junior also had four steals and three assists. Rachel Mathews (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) chipped in eight points in the winning effort.

Along with Laury's 13, Erika Livermore registered 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Knights in the loss.

Fairleigh Dickinson jumped out to an 11-point lead before Mount St. Mary's went on a run to take the lead it would not relinquish to strength its NEC playoff chances with the victory.

With the Knights holding a 19-8 advantage with 7:49 left in the first half, the Mount scored the next 14 points and 22 of the next 27 points to take the lead for good.

Kelly Guerriero (Floral Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), who came off the bench to spark the Mountaineers to a 68-60 win against Wagner on Wednesday, started the run with a 3-pointer at 7:29. Mathews then scored the next four points on a jumper at 6:35 and two free throws at 5:49. Henderson made it a one-point game with a trey at 5:23 before Mathews and Mann each recorded baskets to give the Mount a 22-19 lead at 3:44.

Mariah Nunes tied the game at 22 on a 3-pointer, but the Mountaineers scored eight of the final 10 points in the half to take the lead for good. Mathews started the surge with two free throws at 2:02 before Henderson drilled a triple at 1:43 for a 27-22 lead. Laury answered with a layup with 57 seconds left, but Henderson nailed a 3-ball with 36 ticks on the clock to give the Mountaineers a 30-24 lead going into the locker room.

The Mount extended the lead to 43-30 with 12:13 left after starting the final frame on a 13-6 run. Kaufman drained a pair of baskets from behind the arc in the run.

Sparked by four points by Livermore, Fairleigh Dickinson went on an 11-3 spurt to make it a five-point game with 7:59 remaining.

With the Mountaineers holding a 48-43 lead, Kaufman scored the next nine points on three baskets from behind the arc to give Mount St. Mary's a 57-43 margin. The Knights could get no closer than six points the rest of the night.

Fueled by seven points by Danielle Pankey, Fairleigh Dickinson jumped out to a 19-8 lead with 7:49 left in the opening half. Kaufman had all eight points for the Mount. Mount St. Mary's closed the half on a 22-5 run to take the lead for good.

In addition to breaking the single-game mark for steals, Mann became the sixth player in program history to reach 100 thefts in a single-season. The junior moved into seventh place in program history with 229 steals. Mann, who also has 117 steals, becomes the first player in team history to register 100 assists and 100 steals in the same campaign.

The Mount honored senior Sandra Andresson (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentes School) prior to the start of the game. Andresson moved into fifth place in program history in career starts (98) and 10th in career games played (113).

Mount St. Mary's returns to action against Monmouth on Monday in the squad's final regular season home game. Game time is 7 p.m.
