HALL OF FAME CEREMONY INFORMATION | MOUNT ST. MARY'S HALL OF FAME
Emmitsburg, Md. (January 25, 2012)--Four new members are set to be inducted into the Mount St. Mary's University Athletic Hall of Fame. Roland Miller (C'98, Men's Lacrosse), Dave Swomley (C'74, Track & Field/Soccer), Brian Wall (C'98, Soccer) and Kia Williams (C'01, Basketball) will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Saturday, February 4.
The 2012 Mount St. Mary's Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony will be held at the Dillon Fieldhouse in the ARCC on Saturday, February 4, at 12:30 p.m.Â
Miller tallied 112 goals and 87 assists for 199 points in his Mount career. He was named the 1997 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Year while earning First Team All-MAAC honors in both 1996 and 1997. He helped lead the Mount to ECAC postseason tournament appearances in 1996, 1997 and 1998 while helping the team to three consecutive second-place finishes in the MAAC.Â
Miller set the Mount's single-season record with 79 points (42 goals, 37 assists) in 1997. He is third all-time at the Mount in career points (199), fifth in career assists (87), sixth in career goals (112) and 17th in career ground balls (152).
Swomley had a storied career in both soccer and track and field at the Mount. He is currently 10th all-time at the Mount with 60 career points and seventh on the all-time list with 26 career goals. He was named All-Mason Dixon Conference three times and was named Fifth Team All-South as a senior. In track, he is 10th on the Mount's all-time list in the triple jump (13.88m, 45' 6.25").
Swomley becomes the third of his family to be inducted into the Mount's Hall of Fame, joining brothers Ken (C' 66, Soccer/Track & Field, Inducted 1979) and Dick (C'64, Soccer, Inducted in 1981).
Wall was a top defender on the Mount soccer teams from 1994-97. He was named All-Northeast Conference in both 1995 and 1996 while earning All-Region honors in 1996 as well. He started in all 72 career games he played and is ranked in the top 10 at the Mount in both categories. He helped lead the Mount to 37 wins over his four-year career, including a pair of trips to the Northeast Conference Tournament.
Williams was an outstanding performer for the Mount women's basketball teams from 1997-2001. During her career, the Mount went 71-43 overall and 55-17 in NEC play, wining the NEC regular season title in both 1999 and 2001.Â
Named the 2000-01 NEC Player of the Year, Williams earned All-NEC honors in each of her four seasons at the Mount. A First Team All-NEC selection in both 1999-00 and 2000-01, Williams is fourth all-time at the Mount with 1,732 career points. She was the 1997-98 NEC Newcomer of the Year while her career scoring average of 16.7 points is second on the Mount's all-time list.
Established by the National Alumni Association in 1971, the Athletic Hall of Fame annually recognizes former Mount student athletes who "have exhibited athletic prowess of an outstanding nature in an intercollegiate sport."
Over the years, alumni and coaches from such sports as basketball, baseball, cross country, soccer, track, tennis, lacrosse, decathlon, field hockey, softball, golf and football have been honored. Â Since 1971, 150 student athletes, eight coaches, four teams and three supporters of Mount athletic programs have been inducted.Â
