Women's Basketball Concludes 2010-11 Campaign At Saint Francis (Pa.) On Monday

opening tip... Monday's game between Mount St. Mary's and Saint Francis (Pa.) marks the 52nd meeting between the two teams dating back to the 1988-89 season. The Mount leads the series 26-25.
• The Red Flash swept the season series last year and has won the last four matchups.
• Saint Francis (Pa.) leads the series 13-9 in Loretto, but the Mountaineers have won two of the last three in the DeGol Arena.
• Mount St. Mary's last win in the series was an 84-72 decision in 2008.
• Of the league schools, the Mount has played Saint Francis (Pa.) the most times, including eight occasions in the postseason.

about the red flash... Saint Francis (Pa.) comes into the contest 18-11 overall and 13-4 in Northeast Conference play after defeating Wagner 79-69 on Saturday. The Red Flash can clinch the NEC regular season and top seed with a win or a Monmouth loss at Quinnipiac on Monday.
• Senior Allison Daly paced Saint Francis (Pa.) with 20 points against the Seahawks. Daly ranks third on the team with 11.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
• Junior G Brittany Lilley added 15 points and eight assists against Wagner. The junior is second with 12.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
• Senior G Samantha Leach chipped in 13 points on Saturday. The senior paced the team with 36 points in an 83-71 win against Robert Morris on Feb. 14. Leach leads the NEC with 17.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore F Shene Fleming posted 12 points against the Seahawks. Fleming is averaging 8.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

last time we met... Saint Francis (Pa.) defeated Mount St. Mary's 75-62 on Jan. 10, 2011. Mary Dunn became the 25th player in program history to reach 1,000 points in her career with her layup at the 17:05 mark in the second half. Dunn paced the Mount with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Kelly Guerriero added 11 points while Ashley Christie and Tara Lonergan each registered 10 points. Brittany Lilley fueled the Red Flash with 18 points. Samantha Leach posted 15 points, Allison Daly had 14 points and Alexandra Williams chipped in 13 points. 

last time out... Robert Morris defeated Mount St. Mary's 74-61 on Saturday. Senior Mary Dunn paced the Mount with 22 points.

quick hits on the robert morris game... The Colonials closed the game by scoring 22 of the final 30 points and limiting the Mountaineers to two field goals in the final 12 minutes of the game to earn the victory.
• With the loss, the Mount was eliminated from playoff contention for the second-straight season.
• Senior Mary Dunn notched her second-consecutive 22 points performance after also having 22 points against Long Island on Feb. 21. The senior has posted five 20-point games in her last 17 games and has seven 20-point performances in her career. The Mount is 1-6 when she reaches that mark in her career. Dunn tied the program record for games played with 116 and will become the program's all-time leader with her next appearance. She also needs one point to move into 17th place in program history with 1,079 points and 12 points will move her into 16th place with 1,090. Dunn could also move into fourth place in career rebounds, needing 13 boards for 844. Dunn has posted the most points in a career since Myriam Baccouche, Beth Foster and Adrienne Harris each posted over 1,200 points in their career from 2000-04. She will leave the Mount ranked first in games played and games started, at least fifth in rebounds, seventh in rebounds per game (7.2) and 18th in points. The senior has posted double figures in 14 of the 17 league games and ranks fifth in league games with 14.1 points per game.
• Sophomore Selina Mann added 11 points, seven assists and four steals against the Colonials. It marked the seventh time this season the sophomore has posted at least five assists and four steals in a contest this season. She is averaging 5.2 assists and 5.0 assists per game in her last four games.
• Freshman Kelly Guerriero chipped in 11 points against Robert Morris. The freshman has hit three treys in three of her four double-digit performances.

the state of the mount... With its 74-61 loss against Robert Morris on Saturday, the Mount was eliminated from playoff contention. The squad needed two wins and two FDU loss to clinch a spot.
• It marks the second-straight season the Mount will not make the postseason and for the second year in a row a loss to the Colonials eliminated the Mountaineers.
• The Mount has made 20 of the 22 NEC Tournaments since joining the league in 1989-90.

i'm a weekend kind of girl... Freshman Ashley Christie is averaging 11.8 points per game on the weekend this season.
• The freshman has posted double figures in six of her last seven Saturday games and is averaging 17.0 points per game in that stretch.
• Christie is averaging 13.5 points per game in six Saturday league games.• The freshman has posted eight of her 13 double-digit performances on the weekend. Those eight games also represent her Top-8 performances this season.

out of africa... Senior Leah Westbrooks has been awarded a $25,000 grant from Shooting Touch, Inc. for a 10-month Sabbatical Program.
• Westbrooks will be working in South Africa and Western Zimbabwe during her 10-months.

nice moment for scheitrum... Senior Kristin Scheitrum did not play for nearly a year and a half after suffering a career-ending injury until the Mount's Senior Day.
• Scheitrum got into the final minute of the game against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Feb. 19 and scored a layup with 55 seconds left.
• It was the senior's first points since Dec. 21, 2008 against Virginia.

a different kind of year in 2010-11... In head coach Bryan Whitten's first three years success came from its defense.
• This season has been a different story as the Mount has allowed 60 points in 19 of its 28 games and the opponent is averaging 64.9 points per game. The squad has allowed 50 points per less in three of the last six games.
• Last season, the Mount allowed 60 points or more 11 times. The Mountaineers also ranked second in scoring defense (58.7 ppg.) in the Northeast Conference and 37th in Division I.
• Offensively, Mount St. Mary's has scored 60 points 13 times this season, including four 70-point performances and one 80-point game. The Mount is 4-1 when it scores 70 points, but just 6-6 when reaching 60 points this season.
• The squad has scored over 60 points eight times in its last 16 games, including all five contests over 70 points.
• Last season, Mount St. Mary's reached 60 points only five times and over 63 points only three times.
• Under Whitten, the Mount is 23-18 when it scores 60 points in a game in his four seasons.

in the last five... The Mount is 2-3 in its last five games and is averaging 60.2 points per game.
• Senior Mary Dunn is averaging 14.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in that span. Dunn has recorded double figures in four of the last five games, including 22 points against Long Island on Feb. 21 and against Robert Morris on Feb. 26. It is the first time in her career that she has posted back-to-back 20-point games.
• Junior Sandra Andresson is averaging 10.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in that stretch. The junior has posted two 10-point performances, including 14 points against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Feb. 19 and 15 points against Long Island on Feb. 21.
• Freshman Ashley Christie is averaging 9.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in her last five games. Christie scored double digits in three-consecutive games for the first time in her career during this stretch.

on the road... Mount St. Mary's is 3-12 on the road this season and is averaging 58.0 points per game away from Knott Arena.
• Senior Mary Dunn is averaging 12.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game on the road. The senior, who is averaging 18.3 points per game in her last four games on the road, has recorded double figures in five straight and nine of her last 11 road games. Dunn has recorded six games of 17 points or better away from Emmitsburg.
• Sophomore Selina Mann has eight double-figure games on the road including a career-high 26 points at San Jose State on Dec. 29. Freshman Ashley Christie has seven 10-point games on the road while sophomore Tara Lonergan and freshman Kayla Grossett each have three, freshman Kelly Guerriero has two and junior Sandra Andresson, sophomore Sydney Henderson,  and freshman Jessie Kaufman each have one double-digit game on the road.

stat stuffer... Sophomore Selina Mann has done it all on the court this season whether its scoring, rebounding, assisting or thievery.
• Mann has scored double figures in 11 games this season, all in the last 19 games. The sophomore notched a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29 and scored the game-winning basket against San Francisco on Dec. 31.
• The sophomore has grabbed at least five rebounds six times this season, including a season-high eight caroms at Central Connecticut State on Jan. 31. The 5-4 guard has also recorded 10-board game on her career resume.
• Mann has dished out four assists 20 times this season, including a career-high eight helpers against the Dons and seven dimes at Navy on Dec. 8, at St. Francis (N.Y.) on Jan. 15 and at Bryant on Jan. 29. She ranks second in the league with 4.50 assists per game.
• The sophomore has recorded two steals in 24 of the 28 games and four steals 10 times, including a program-record 10 thefts against Sacred Heart on Jan. 24. Mann currently leads the conference with 3.18 steals per game.
• Mann's 118 assists are the most since Amy Langville had 139 in 1996-97 while her 89 steals are the most since Kiana Fobbs registered 110 thefts in the 2001-02 season.

queen of thievery... Sophomore Selina Mann tied the single-game program record for steals in a game with 10 against Sacred Heart on Jan. 24.
• The sophomore became the third player in program history and the second player in Mount Division I history to record 10 steals in a game. She joins Karla Green (at Richmond, Feb. 20, 1983) and Kim Rhock (St. Francis (N.Y.), Feb. 13, 1990) as the only players in program history to reach double-digit thefts. • Mann becomes the second player to record a double-double with points and steals, although Rhock finished her game against the Terriers with a triple-double (19 points, 14 rebounds and 10 steals).

wins vs. losses... Mount St. Mary's is averaging 69.2 points per game in its seven wins compared to 53.0 points per game in the 20 loses. The squad is 5-6 when it reaches 60 points.
• The Mountaineers are shooting 41.8 percent when it wins, but just 33.8 percent in a loss.
• Mount St. Mary's has been outrebounded in every game except Quinnipiac (Jan. 4), St. Francis (N.Y.) (Jan. 15), Monmouth (Feb. 7), Wagner (Feb. 12) and St. Francis (N.Y.) (Feb. 19), but are only -1.5 on boards in wins and -9.8 in losses.
• Mount St. Mary's is 6-1 when it leads at halftime and 2-18 when the opponents hold the edge and 0-1 when the game is tied at the break.

board issues... Mount St. Mary's has been outrebounded in 22 of its 28 games this season. All six games have come in league play and in the last 14 games. The opponents have held a 10-rebound edge in 10 games this season, but the Mount has been trailed by 10 rebounds or less in 13 games, including 13 of the last 20 games.
• Mount St. Mary's has been outrebounded in 77 games under head coach Bryan Whitten, including 34 games with double-digit rebound deficits. The squad is 3-31 when the opponent holds a 10-board advantage.
• Last season, the Mount won the rebound battle in 50 percent of its games and had seven games when the opponent had a 10-carom margin.

tops in the league... Mount St. Mary's has posted the most wins in the Northeast Conference since joining the league in 1989-90 with 246 victories.
• The Mount has the third-most wins in league history, trailing only Monmouth (264) and Saint Francis (Pa.) (269).
• The Mount is 246-141 in Northeast Conference play, including 139-58 at Knott Arena and 107-83 on the road.

that was a career day... Junior Sandra Andresson posted a career-high 25 points against Monmouth on Feb. 7.
• Freshman Ashley Christie posted a career-high 21 points against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 5.
• Freshman Kelly Guerriero had a career-best 13 points against Bryant on Jan. 29.
• Freshman Jessie Kaufman recorded a career-high 14 points against Long Island on Jan. 17.
• Fellow freshman Kayla Grossett also had a career day against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Jan. 15 with 16 points.
• Senior Mary Dunn notched a career-high 26 points against San Francisco on Dec. 31.
• Sophomore Selina Mann scored a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29. Fellow sophomore Tara Lonergan also established a career-best against the Spartans with 13 points.
• Sophomore Sydney Henderson had a career-high 17 points against Virginia on Nov. 14.

a new year, a new start... In February, the Mount is 215-105 and 117-68 since switching to Division I.
• The Mountaineers are 72-26 at home and 42-42 on the road since switching to Division I.
• Once the New Year hits, the Mount has posted a 473-225 overall mark and a 272-154 since turning Division I in the last three months of the season.
• The Mount is 13-17 under head coach Bryan Whitten in the month.

hearing your name called at the start... Head coach Bryan Whitten has only had 18 players start in his four-year tenure at the Mount.
• The Mount has used four different starting lineups this season.
• Senior Mary Dunn has started 116-straight games in her career to establish the all-time start record at the Mount.
• Senior Leah Westbrooks has started 76 of her 93 games played, including starts in the last seven games.
• Junior Sandra Andresson has started 74 of the 85 games she has played.
• Sophomore Sydney Henderson started 15 of the 26 games she has played, including 10 straight games she has played.
• Freshman Ashley Christie has started the first 28 games of her collegiate career.• Freshman Jessie Kaufman started the first nine games of the season before fellow freshman Kayla Grossett started games against Sacred Heart and San Jose State before sophomore Tara Lonergan made her first career start against San Francisco and has started 10 of the last 17 games.

three-pointer to start scoring is deadly for the mount... Mount St. Mary's registered a 3-pointer for its first field goal of the game 11 times this season. The Mount is 3-8 in those games and has won its last two games it hit a trey to start a game.
• The squad has hit a trey to start its scoring against Virginia (Nov. 14), Cincinnati (Nov. 23), Towson (Dec. 1), Pittsburgh (Dec. 4), Navy (Dec. 8), Loyola (Dec. 11), Quinnipiac (Jan. 4), Saint Francis (Pa.) (Jan. 10), St. Francis (N.Y.) (Jan. 15), Monmouth (Feb. 7), St. Francis (N.Y.) (Feb. 19).
• Freshman Jessie Kaufman has hit the squad's opening 3-pointer in four times while senior Mary Dunn and junior Sandra Andresson has three opening treys and freshman Ashley Christie has one.
• The Mountaineers are 5-11 when its first field goal comes from inside the arc.

preseason poll... Mount St. Mary's was picked 11th according to the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Long Island, who advanced to the NEC Championship Game last season, received six first-place votes to be tabbed as the preseason favorite while the defending league regular season champions Robert Morris was selected second after garnering three first-place nods. Sacred Heart placed third ahead of the defending NEC Tournament champions Saint Francis (Pa.), who picked up two first place votes while Monmouth nabbed the final first-place vote to finish fifth in the poll. Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut State, Bryant, Fairleigh Dickinson, Wagner, the Mount and St. Francis (N.Y.) rounded out the 12-team field.

the good and the bad for henderson... Sophomore Sydney Henderson scored a career-high 17 points against Virginia on Nov. 14.
• Henderson scored 13 of her 17 points in the first eight minutes of the second half.
• After establishing a new career-high on her bucket with 12:01 left in the second half, the sophomore left the game with a knee injury.
• Henderson will miss the rest of the season due to the knee injury sustained in the game against Virginia.

let's play to 60 points... Mount St. Mary's is most successful under head coach Bryan Whitten when it scores 60 points in a game or holds the opponent under that total.
• The Mount is 23-18 when it scores 60 points in a game, but 16-54 when it does not reach 60 points.
• Defensively, the Mountaineers are 30-24 when the opponents are held under 60 points and 9-52 when the opponent reaches 60 points.

three keys to whitten success... The Mount is most successful under head coach Bryan Whitten when the squad leads at halftime, in rebounding or keeps the opponent under 60 points.
• The Mount is 31-14 when he holds the lead at halftime, 2-3 when the game is tied, but just 7-59 when trailing at the break.
• The squad is 18-16 when it holds a rebounding edge in a game, but just 20-56 when the opponent has the advantage and 2-4 when the two teams have equal boards.
• Mount St. Mary's is 30-24 when it holds opponents under 60 points.

hitting 20 points in a game... Senior Mary Dunn, junior Sandra Andresson, sophomore Selina Mann and freshman Ashley Christie are the only four players on the roster that has scored 20 points in a game in their career. All six 20-point performances have come in the last 13 games.
• Dunn posted a career-high 26 points against San Francisco on Dec. 31, had 21 points against Robert Morris on Jan. 8, 20 points against Bryant on Jan. 29, 22 points against Long Island on Feb. 21 and 22 points against Robert Morris on Feb. 26. The senior also accomplished the feat twice last season when she recorded 21 points against Colgate on Nov. 24, 2009 and had 20 points against Long Island on Jan. 16, 2010.
• Mann became the first player this season to turn the trick when she posted a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29, 2010.
• Christie became the third player this season to reach 20 points after coming up short by one or two points twice this season. The freshman posted a career-high 21 points against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 5.
• Andresson joined the 20-point club with a career-high 25 points against Monmouth on Feb. 7.
• The Mount has registered 24 20-point performances and two 30-point games under head coach Bryan Whitten. The squad is 13-11 when a player reaches 20 points and 2-0 when a player scores 30 in a contest.

notes on dunn's 1,000 point game... Senior Mary Dunn became the 25th player in program history to reach 1,000 points with her layup at 17:05 in the second half against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 10.
• Dunn is the first player to reach the milestone since current assistant coach Brianna Gauthier joined the club against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 7, 2009.
• Dunn is the 15th player to reach 1,000 points at home. The Mount is 11-3 in those games.
• The senior is the third 1,000-point scorer head coach Bryan Whitten has coached at the Mount, joining Gauthier and Tiffany Green (2007-08).
• Dunn is the eighth player in program history to have 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in her career.

dunn on the all-time lists... Senior Mary Dunn is making a mark on the program's all-time list.
• The senior currently sits in 18th place in program history with 1,178 career points. Next on the list is Karla Green (1,179, 1980-84) followed by Amy Langville (1,190, 1993-97) in 16th place.
• The senior also ranks seventh in program history in rebounds per game (7.2 rpg.). Dunn moved into fifth place on the program's all-time rebounding list with 827 caroms after grabbing seven boards against Wagner on Feb. 12. The senior can move into fourth place and ahead of Green (844, 1980-84) with 13 rebounds.
• Dunn also ranks seventh in Mount Division I history with 15 career double-doubles. She can move up a spot with two double-doubles.
• The senior became the program's all-time career leader in starts against Monmouth on Feb. 7 and now stands at 115.
• Dunn has tied the program's all-time career games played mark with 116 games played and will hold the record by herself with her next appearance.

other players on the move... Along with senior Mary Dunn, the Mount has several players making a move on the program's all-time scoring chart.
• Senior Leah Westbrooks has 570 career points to rank 48th in program history and can move into 47th place with 18 points. Westbrooks also ranks 13th in Mount Division I history with six double-doubles and can move into eighth place with four double-doubles.
• Junior Sandra Andresson currently sits in 51st place in program history with 522 points and can move into 50th place with one point.
• Sophomore Sydney Henderson has 160 career points to sit in 85th place. She can move into 84th place with 13 points and 83rd place with 15 points.
• Sophomore Selina Mann has 329 points for her career to rank 67th in team history and can move into 66th place with two points.
• Freshman Ashley Christie has 267 points in her first season to rank 74th in program history. The freshman can move into 73rd place with eight points.
• Sophomore Tara Lonergan became the seventh player on the team to join the Top-100 in scoring and stands at 162 career points. The sophomore can move into 89th place with 11 points.
• Freshman Kayla Grossett has 138 points for her career and can be the eighth member of the 2010-11 team in the Top-100 with five points.

1,000 games in program history... Mount St. Mary's played its 1,000th game in program history on Jan. 8 against Robert Morris.
• The Mount is 637-377 in program history.

bcs schools on the schedule... The first six games in the 2010-11 campaign could have arguably been the toughest start in program history.
• The Mount faced Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia in the season opener and Big East affiliates Cincinnati on Nov. 23 and Pittsburgh on Dec. 4.
• It marked the first time since the 2000-01 season the Mount will play three BCS schools when the squad faced Virginia (ACC), Georgia Tech (ACC) and Seton Hall (Big East).
• Mount St. Mary's also played three big conference schools in 1988-89 and 1994-95.

in the non-conference slate... Mount St. Mary's is 74-115 in non-conference games since joining the Northeast Conference in 1989-90.

home sweet home... In its 24th season at Knott Arena, Mount St. Mary's has posted a 208-103 overall mark, including 69-43 in non-conference play and 139-60 in league play since moving across Route 15 from Memorial Gym.

northeast conference history... Prior to last season, the Mount had advanced to 20-straight Northeast Conference Tournaments.
• Mount St. Mary's is 17-17 in the NEC Tournament.
• The Mountaineers have not won a tournament game since a 50-45 win against Sacred Heart on Mar. 4, 2001.
• Mount St. Mary's won tournaments in 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95, including earning the league's first two NCAA Division I bids.

the underlining whit... Head coach Bryan Whitten is in his four season at the Mount in 2009-10. The Mount is 40-76 overall under Whitten.
• Whitten has defeated all 11 other teams in the NEC.
• The Mount is 19-35 overall at Knott Arena and 14-23 in NEC play under Whitten.
• The Mountaineers fair better on the road with a 21-41 overall mark away from Emmitsburg and 11-21 in league play.
• Whitten picked up his first Mount win with a 55-51 decision at Lafayette on Nov. 17, 2007 and earned his 25th career in at Lafayette on Nov. 30, 2009.
• Whitten earned his 250th win of his career against Quinnipiac on Jan. 30, 2010.

foreign flavor... Mount St. Mary's has three international players on the roster at the same time for the first time in program history.
• Senior Leah Westbrooks (Ireland) was the third international player at the Mount, junior Sandra Andresson (Estonia) became the fourth international player in Emmitsburg and freshman Kayla Grossett (Canada) became the fifth international player at the Mount.
• The trio follows Katie Walton (Canada, 1998-02) and Dita Krumberga (Latvia, 2004-07).
