Stevenson then hit a jumper at 4:42 and Chelsi Johnson scored in the lane off a Stevenson assist at 3:59 for a 61-53 lead.  The Mountaineers cut it to six points twice before scoring the final four points to set the final score.

Ashley Palmer paced Long Island with 17 points while Evans and Stevenson each added 13 points. It was a new career-high for Stevenson.

In the sixth close battle between the two teams in the last seven meetings, Long Island finally grabbed the lead from the pesky Mount St. Mary's squad late in the second half and held on for the win.

The game started as a seesaw battle with the Mount grabbing the advantage on seven occasions. Dunn gave the Mountaineers their final lead on a 3-pointer at 4:19 for a 25-24 edge. Mount St. Mary's did not hold more than a two-point margin on the night.  With the score tied at 32, Palmer gave the Blackbirds a 34-32 lead going into the locker room in the closing seconds of the first half.

Long Island then scored the first eight points of the second half to grab a 42-32 advantage with 16:54 left. Johnson had four of the eight points in the run.

Mount St. Mary's then used a 21-11 run to even the game at 53 with 6:41 on the clock. The Mount also tied it at 48 at the 8:58 mark. Dunn paced the squad with six points while Selina Mann (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) chipped in five points in the spurt. The Blackbirds then took the lead for good on an Evans driving layup and they went on for their four-straight win against the Mountaineers.

Dunn made a career-high four 3-pointers on the night. The senior moved into fourth place in program history for games played with 115. It was also her fourth 20-point performance of the season and the sixth of her career.

The game marked the final home game for Dunn and fellow seniors Leah Westbrooks (Dublin, Ireland/Holy Faith Secondary School) and Kristin Scheitrum (Macingie, Pa./Emmaus). Westbrooks added three points, seven rebounds and three assists in her final game in Emmitsburg while Scheitrum did not dress. Scheitrum played in the Mount St. Mary's 66-49 win against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Saturday for the first time since Dec. 21, 2008 and scored a basket in the closing minute.

With the loss coupled with Fairleigh Dickinson's 79-76 win against Robert Morris, the Mount needs to win its final two games and the Knights have to fall in its last two contests in order for the Mountaineers to advance to its 21st NEC Tournament in 22 seasons.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Saturday at Robert Morris. Game time is 4 p.m.
