after defeating Wagner 61-57 on Saturday. The Blackbirds are in a
four-way tie for second place in the league standings.
• Junior F Ashley Palmer paced Long Island with 19 points
against the Seahawks. Palmer has been the squad's leading scorer in
five-straight games to help the Blackbirds to a six-game winning
streak. During this stretch, the junior scored 24 points in a 70-58
win against Quinnipiac on Feb. 5 and 28 points in a 70-58 victory
against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Feb. 12. Palmer leads the team with
15.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
• Junior G Kiara Evans added 14 points on Saturday. The junior
scored 21 points in a 68-49 win against Fairleigh Dickinson on Jan.
31. Evans ranks second on the squad with 10.9 points and 4.3
rebounds per game.
• Senior F Chelsi Johnson added 11 points in the win against
Wagner. The senior posted 12 points in a 77-59 win against Sacred
Heart on Feb. 7. Johnson is third on the team with 10.3 points and
7.7 rebounds per game.

For the second-straight game the Mount did not trail in a game. The
Mount jumped out to a 5-0 lead and the Terriers rallied to tie the
game at 5, but then the Mountaineers took the lead for good.
• Fellow freshman Ashley Christie has posted double figures
for three-straight games for the first time in her career and led
the Mountaineers with 15 points along with six assists. Christie is
averaging 13.0 points per game in her last three games. The
freshman ranks second on the team with 13 double-digit performances
and Mount St. Mary's is 4-2 when Christie is the team's leading
scorer.
• Junior Sandra Andresson added 14 points in the win against
St. Francis (N.Y.). The junior is averaging 13.8 points per game in
her last four games at Knott Arena to help the squad to a 4-0 mark
in that span.
• Senior Mary Dunn missed double figures for the third time in
15 league games including twice against the Terriers, but the
senior finished the game with eight points and 10 rebounds. Dunn
moved into 18th place in program history with 1,134 career points.
She jumped into seventh place in program history with 114 games
played and will jump into fourth place with her next appearance.
The senior ranks sixth in league games with 13.1 points per
game.
• Sophomore Selina Mann posted seven steals, five assists and
four points against the Terriers. Mann has dished out 117 assists
this season, the most since Amy Langville handed out 139 in
1996-97. The sophomore also has the most steals since Kiana Fobbs
registered 110 steals in 2001-02 with 81 in 2010-11.
• Senior Kristin Scheitrum suited up for the first time since
her sophomore year and got into the game during the closing
minutes. The senior scored a basket on a layup for her first points
since scoring against Virginia on Dec. 21, 2008. Scheitrum, Dunn
and fellow senior Leah Westbrooks were honored prior to the start
of the game on Saturday.
• Freshman Jessie Kauffman added eight points off the bench.
The freshman posted 13 points against Wagner on Feb. 14 and is
averaging 10.5 points per game in her last two games.
• The Mount has won four of its last five for the first time
this season and for the second time under head coach Bryan
Whitten.
• The squad has won four straight at home for the first time
since 2007-08 when that team won five straight to end the regular
season.
the state of the mount... With three games
left, the Mount remains in play for the final playoff spot in the
Northeast Conference.
• The Mount's standing did not change much after the squad's
66-49 win against St. Francis (N.Y.) since Fairleigh Dickinson
shocked league leader Saint Francis (Pa.) 62-58 on Saturday. With
that win, the Knights remained one game ahead of the Mount.
• The Mountaineers need to win one more game than Fairleigh
Dickinson in the final three games in order to clinch its 21st
tournament appearance in 22 years.
• It will be no easy task for the Mount as they host Long
Island on Monday before closing out the season at Robert Morris on
Feb. 26 and Saint Francis (Pa.) on Feb. 28. The Blackbirds and
Colonials are in a four-way tie for second place while the Red
Flash holds the top spot with a two-game advantage.
• The Knights do not have it much easier, hosting Robert
Morris on Monday and then travel to Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart in
the final weekend. The Bobcats are in sixth place and the Pioneers
are a part of that four-way tie for fourth.
• Wagner could also have a say in the final playoff spot, but
would have to go 3-0 in its final three games. The Staten Island
program currently sits one game behind the Mount and two games
behind FDU.
• Mount St. Mary's holds the head-to-head tiebreaker with the
Knights and also have the advantage in a three-way tiebreaker with
the Seahawks and Fairleigh Dickinson.
• Seven of the eight spots have been clinched with the Mount,
Wagner and the Knights vying for the final spot. St. Francis (N.Y.)
has been eliminated from playoff contention and Bryant is not
eligible for postseason play for another two years.

• The sophomore became the third player in program history and
the second player in Mount Division I history to record 10 steals
in a game. She joins Karla Green (at Richmond, Feb. 20, 1983) and
Kim Rhock (St. Francis (N.Y.), Feb. 13, 1990) as the only players
in program history to reach double-digit thefts.
• Mann becomes the second player to record a double-double
with points and steals, although Rhock finished her game against
the Terriers with a triple-double (19 points, 14 rebounds and 10
steals).

Sydney Henderson scored a career-high 17 points against Virginia on

• Dunn is the 15th player to reach 1,000 points at home. The

program history with 501 points and can move into 54th place with

1,000 games in program history... Mount St.
Mary's played its 1,000th game in program history on Jan. 8 against
Robert Morris.

games in the 2010-11 campaign could have arguably been the toughest
start in program history.
• The Mount faced Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia in

• It marked the first time since the 2000-01 season the Mount
