Women's Basketball Heads To CCSU On Monday; Game Will Be Webcast On Northeastconference.tv

opening tip... Monday's game between Mount St. Mary's and Central Connecticut State marks the 25th meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1997-98 season.
• The Mount leads the series 18-6, including a 55-45 victory last season in Emmitsburg.
• The Blue Devils last win in the series was a 60-47 decision on Jan. 26, 2009. Central Connecticut State won back-to-back games to sweep the season series in the 2008-09 season, marking only the second time the New Britain program won two straight in the matchup.
• Mount St. Mary's has won six of the last eight tilts and 14 of the last 17.

about the blue devils... Central Connecticut State comes into the game 12-7 overall and 5-4 in Northeast Conference and riding a four-game winning streak after downing Wagner 65-52 on Saturday.
• Sophomore G Alexzandria Dowdy paced the Blue Devils with 14 points against the Seahawks. Dowdy is averaging 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
• Senior F Justina Udenze added 12 points off the bench on Saturday. The senior is second on the team with 9.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Udenze fueled the team with 14 points in a 57-29 win against Fairleigh Dickinson on Jan. 22.
• Senior F Kerrianne Dugan leads the team with 11.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. The senior has been the squad's leading scorer seven times this season, including scoring 26 points in a 61-48 win against New Hampshire on Dec. 19.
• Junior F Gabrielle Oglesby has been the squad's top scorer in two of its four wins in the streak. Oglesby posted 16 points in a 65-62 win against Sacred Heart on Jan. 17 and 14 points in a 48-45 victory against Monmouth on Jan. 24. She is averaging 6.9 points and 4.1 boards per game.

last time we met... Mary Dunn paced the Mount with 11 points to lead Mount St. Mary's past Central Connecticut State 55-45 on Feb. 18, 2010. Leah Westbrooks added nine points and seven rebounds for the Mount. Kerrianne Dugan fueled the Blue Devils with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Justina Udenze added 12 points and nine boards and Leanne Crockett posted 10 points and eight caroms in the loss.

last time out... Bryant defeated Mount St. Mary's 79-76 in overtime on Saturday. Senior Mary Dunn paced the Mount with 20 points.

quick hits on the bryant game... Mount St. Mary's held an 11-point lead in the second half before Bryant rallied to take the lead. Senior Mary Dunn had to convert two free throws with 40 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.
• It marked the first time this season the Mountaineers held a lead at halftime and lost. It was also the first time this season the squad held a 10-point lead in a loss.
• Dunn notched her third 20-point performance of the season and fifth of her career. The senior has recorded double figures in eight of the nine conference games this season and ranks sixth with 14.2 points per game in NEC games. The senior moved into 22nd place in program history with 1,066 career points and can move into 21st place with 13 points. Dunn also moved into sixth place in career rebounds with 774 boards. The senior will move into second place for games started with 109 starts if she starts on Monday. She has scored double figures in eight of her last nine games and is averaging 15.8 points and 6.7 rebounds in that stretch.
• Freshman Ashley Christie added 18 points against the Bulldogs, one point shy of her career high. Christie has registered at least 15 points in three of her last five games and is averaging 12.0 points per game in that stretch. After combining for six rebounds in her previous five games, the freshman grabbed five rebounds on Saturday.
• Freshman Kelly Guerriero came off the bench to notch a career-high 13 points. It was the freshman's third 10-point performance this season and second on the road.
• Sophomore Tara Lonergan added 11 points for her fourth double-digit contest of the season. The sophomore has posted at least six points in seven of her last 10 games and is averaging 7.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.
• The Mount had four players in double figures for the fourth time this season. All four games have been in the last nine tilts.

tough start to the league schedule... The Mount has started the Northeast Conference schedule 1-8 for the first time in program history.
• The squad has battled five of the Top-6 teams in its first nine games. St. Francis (N.Y.) and Bryant are the only team the Mountaineers have played that has a losing overall and conference mark.
• Five of the next seven games are scheduled against teams with losing record. Only Monmouth (14-6, 6-3 NEC) and Central Connecticut State (12-7, 5-4 NEC) have winning records in the Mount's next seven games.

a different kind of year in 2010-11... In head coach Bryan Whitten's first three years success came from its defense.
• This season has been a different story as the Mount has allowed 60 points in 15 of its 20 games and the opponent is averaging 67.2 points per game.
• Last season, the Mount allowed 60 points or more 11 times. The Mountaineers also ranked second in scoring defense (58.7 ppg.) in the Northeast Conference and 37th in Division I.
• Offensively, Mount St. Mary's has scored 60 points nine times this season, including four 70-point performances. The Mount is 3-1 when it scores 70 points, but just 4-5 when reaching 60 points this season.
• The squad has scored over 60 points seven times in its last 10 games, including all four 70-point games.
• Last season, Mount St. Mary's reached 60 points only five times and over 63 points only three times.
• Under Whitten, the Mount is 22-16 when it scores 60 points in a game in his four seasons.

next on tap... Mount St. Mary's returns to Knott Arena on Saturday to host Fairleigh Dickinson during the Annual Homecoming weekend.
• After the Mount returns from Connecticut, the Mountaineers will have five of its next six games at Knott Arena, starting with Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 5 for Homecoming.

in the last five... The Mount is 1-4 in its last five games and is averaging 64.2 points per game.
• Senior Mary Dunn is averaging 12.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game in the last five games. The senior has registered four double-figure performances in that stretch, 13 points against Long Island on Jan. 17, 12 points against Quinnipiac on Jan. 22, 11 points against Sacred Heart on Jan. 24 and 20 points against Bryant on Jan. 29.
• Freshman Ashley Christie is averaging 12.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in her last five games. Christie had a career-high 19 points against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Jan. 15, 15 points against the Bobcats and 18 points against the Bulldogs.

on the road... Mount St. Mary's is 3-9 on the road this season and is averaging 60.1 points per game away from Knott Arena. The squad has won three of its last six games on the road.
• Senior Mary Dunn is the only player averaging double figures on the road with 11.0 points along with 5.9 rebounds per game. The senior has six double-figure performances on the road, all in her last eight games. Dunn posted 18 points against Loyola on Dec. 11, 12 points against Sacred Heart on Dec. 20, a career-high 26 points against San Francisco on Dec. 31, 17 points at Quinnipiac on Jan. 4, 13 points at Long Island on Jan. 17 and 20 points at Bryant on Jan. 29.
• Freshman Ashley Christie is averaging 9.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game on the road. The freshman has six 10-point games this season, including 13 points at Virginia on Nov. 14, 10 points at Navy on Dec. 8, 11 points against the Pioneers, 11 points against the Dons, a career-high 19 points at St. Francis (N.Y.) and 18 points against the Bulldogs.
• Sophomore Selina Mann has five double-figure performances on the road, including a career-best 26 points at San Jose State on Dec. 29.
• Sophomore Tara Lonergan and freshman Kayla Grossett each have three double-digit games, freshman Kelly Guerriero has two 10-point games while junior Sandra Andresson and freshman Jessie Kaufman each have one double-digit game in 2010-11.

stat stuffer... Sophomore Selina Mann has done it all on the court this season whether its scoring, rebounding, assisting or thievery.
• Mann has scored double figures in seven games this season, including seven of the last 14 games. The sophomore notched a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29 and scored the game-winning basket against San Francisco on Dec. 31.
• The sophomore has grabbed at least five rebounds four times this season and the 5-4 guard has a 10-board game on her career resume.
• Mann has dished out four assists 14 times this season, including a career-high eight helpers against the Dons and seven dimes at Navy on Dec. 8, at St. Francis (N.Y.) on Jan. 15 and at Bryant on Jan. 29. She ranks third in the league with 4.45 assists per game.
• The sophomore has recorded two steals in 16 of the 20 games and four steals five times, including a program-record 10 thefts against Sacred Heart on Jan. 24. Mann currently leads the conference with 2.85 steals per game.

queen of thievery... Sophomore Selina Mann tied the single-game program record for steals in a game with 10 against Sacred Heart on Jan. 24.
• The sophomore became the third player in program history and the second player in Mount Division I history to record 10 steals in a game. She joins Karla Green (at Richmond, Feb. 20, 1983) and Kim Rhock (St. Francis (N.Y.), Feb. 13, 1990) as the only players in program history to reach double-digit thefts.
• Mann becomes the second player to record a double-double with points and steals, although Rhock finished her game against the Terriers with a triple-double (19 points, 14 rebounds and 10 steals).

wins vs. losses... Mount St. Mary's is averaging 73.8 points per game in its four wins compared to 52.2 points per game in the 16 loses. The squad is 4-5 when it reaches 60 points.
• The Mountaineers are shooting 44.1 percent when it wins, but just 33.3 percent in a loss.
• Mount St. Mary's has been outrebounded in every game except Quinnipiac (Jan. 4) and St. Francis (N.Y.) (Jan. 15), but are only -3.7 on boards in wins and -10.9 in losses.
• Mount St. Mary's is 3-1 when it leads at halftime and 1-15 when the opponents hold the edge.

board issues... Mount St. Mary's has been outrebounded in 17 of its 20 games and only held a one-board edge against Quinnipiac on Jan. 4 and against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Jan. 15. The opponents have held a 10-rebound edge in 10 games this season, but the Mount has been trailed by 10 rebounds or less in nine games, including eight of the last 12 games.
• Mount St. Mary's has been outrebounded in 72 games under head coach Bryan Whitten, including 34 games with double-digit rebound deficits. The squad is 3-31 when the opponent holds a 10-board advantage.
• Last season, the Mount won the rebound battle in 50 percent of its games and had seven games when the opponent had a 10-carom margin.

tops in the league... Mount St. Mary's has posted the most wins in the Northeast Conference since joining the league in 1989-90 with 242 victories.
• The Mount has the third-most wins in league history, trailing only Monmouth (258) and Saint Francis (Pa.) (263).
• The Mount is 242-138 in Northeast Conference play, including 135-58 at Knott Arena and 107-80 on the road.

that was a career day... Freshman Kelly Guerriero had a career-best 13 points against Bryant on Jan. 29.
• Freshman Jessie Kaufman recorded a career-high 14 points against Long Island on Jan. 17.
• Freshman Ashley Christie posted a career-high 19 points against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Jan. 15. Fellow freshman Kayla Grossett also had a career day against the Terriers with 16 points.
• Senior Mary Dunn notched a career-high 26 points against San Francisco on Dec. 31.
• Sophomore Selina Mann scored a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29. Fellow sophomore Tara Lonergan also established a career-best against the Spartans with 13 points.
• Sophomore Sydney Henderson had a career-high 17 points against Virginia on Nov. 14.

a new year, a new start... In January, the Mount is 219-90 and 134-82 since switching to Division I.
• The Mountaineers are 69-32 at home and 65-40 on the road since switching to Division I. \
• Once the New Year hits, the Mount has posted a 469-221 overall mark and a 268-150 since turning Division I in the last three months of the season.
• The Mount is 11-24 under head coach Bryan Whitten in the month.
• Mount St. Mary's is 6-12 at home and 5-12 on the road in the month under Whitten.

hearing your name called at the start... Head coach Bryan Whitten has only had 18 players start in his four-year tenure at the Mount.
• The Mount has used three different starting lineups this season.
• Senior Mary Dunn has started 108-straight games in her career.
• Senior Leah Westbrooks has started 69 of her 85 games played.
• Junior Sandra Andresson has started 66 of the 77 games she has played.
• Sophomore Sydney Henderson started 15 of the 26 games she has played, including 10 straight.
• Freshman Ashley Christie has started the first 20 games of her collegiate career.
• Freshman Jessie Kaufman started the first nine games of the season before fellow freshman Kayla Grossett started games against Sacred Heart and San Jose State before sophomore Tara Lonergan made her first career start against San Francisco and has started the last nine games.

three-pointer to start scoring is deadly for the mount... Mount St. Mary's registered a 3-pointer for its first field goal of the game nine times this season. The Mount is 1-8 in those games and picked its first win after starting the game with a 3-pointer against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Jan. 15.
• The squad has hit a trey to start its scoring against Virginia (Nov. 14), Cincinnati (Nov. 23), Towson (Dec. 1), Pittsburgh (Dec. 4), Navy (Dec. 8), Loyola (Dec. 11), Quinnipiac (Jan. 4), Saint Francis (Pa.) (Jan. 10) and St. Francis (N.Y.) (Jan. 15).
• Freshman Jessie Kaufman has hit the squad's opening 3-pointer in four times, senior Mary Dunn has three opening treys while junior Sandra Andresson and freshman Ashley Christie each have one.
• The Mountaineers are 3-7 when its first field goal comes from inside the arc.

preseason poll... Mount St. Mary's was picked 11th according to the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Long Island, who advanced to the NEC Championship Game last season, received six first-place votes to be tabbed as the preseason favorite while the defending league regular season champions Robert Morris was selected second after garnering three first-place nods. Sacred Heart placed third ahead of the defending NEC Tournament champions Saint Francis (Pa.), who picked up two first place votes while Monmouth nabbed the final first-place vote to finish fifth in the poll. Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut State, Bryant, Fairleigh Dickinson, Wagner, the Mount and St. Francis (N.Y.) rounded out the 12-team field.

the good and the bad for henderson... Sophomore Sydney Henderson scored a career-high 17 points against Virginia on Nov. 14.
• Henderson scored 13 of her 17 points in the first eight minutes of the second half.
• After establishing a new career-high on her bucket with 12:01 left in the second half, the sophomore left the game with a knee injury.
• Henderson will miss the rest of the season due to the knee injury sustained in the game against Virginia.

let's play to 60 points... Mount St. Mary's is most successful under head coach Bryan Whitten when it scores 60 points in a game or holds the opponent under that total.
• The Mount is 21-16 when it scores 60 points in a game, but 14-52 when it does not reach 60 points.
• Defensively, the Mountaineers are 27-23 when the opponents are held under 60 points and 8-49 when the opponent reaches 60 points.

three keys to whitten success... The Mount is most successful under head coach Bryan Whitten when the squad leads at halftime, in rebounding or keeps the opponent under 60 points.
• The Mount is 28-14 when he holds the lead at halftime, 2-2 when the game is tied, but just 6-56 when trailing at the break.
• The squad is 16-15 when it holds a rebounding edge in a game, but just 18-53 when the opponent has the advantage and 2-4 when the two teams have equal boards.
• Mount St. Mary's is 27-23 when it holds opponents under 60 points.

hitting 20 points in a game... Senior Mary Dunn and sophomore Selina Mann are the only two players on the roster that has scored 20 points in a game in their career.
• Dunn posted a career-high 26 points against San Francisco on Dec. 31, had 21 points against Robert Morris on Jan. 8 and scored 20 points against Bryant on Jan. 29. The senior also accomplished the feat twice last season when she recorded 21 points against Colgate on Nov. 24, 2009 and had 20 points against Long Island on Jan. 16, 2010.
• Mann became the first player this season to turn the trick when she posted a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29, 2010.
• The Mount has registered 20 20-point performances and two 30-point games under head coach Bryan Whitten. The squad is 11-9 when a player reaches 20 points and 2-0 when a player scores 30 in a contest.

notes on dunn's 1,000 point game... Senior Mary Dunn became the 25th player in program history to reach 1,000 points with her layup at 17:05 in the second half against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 10.
• Dunn is the first player to reach the milestone since current assistant coach Brianna Gauthier joined the club against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 7, 2009.
• Dunn is the 15th player to reach 1,000 points at home. The Mount is 11-3 in those games.
• The senior is the third 1,000-point scorer head coach Bryan Whitten has coached at the Mount, joining Gauthier and Tiffany Green (2007-08).
• Dunn is the eighth player in program history to have 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in her career.

dunn on the all-time lists... Senior Mary Dunn is making a mark on the program's all-time list.
• The senior currently sits in 22nd place in program history with 1,066 career points. Next on the list is Dita Krumberga (1,074, 2004-07).
• The senior also ranks seventh in program history in rebounds per game (7.3 rpg.). Dunn moved into sixth place on the program's all-time rebounding list with 774 caroms after grabbing five boards against Bryant on Jan. 29. The senior can move into fifth place and ahead of Kia Williams (798, 1997-01) with 25 rebounds.
• Dunn also ranks seventh in Mount Division I history with 15 career double-doubles. She can move up a spot with two double-doubles.
• The senior is also third on the Mount's games started list with 108 career starts and can move into second place with one start to tie former teammate and current assistant coach Brianna Gauthier (109, 2005-09).

other players on the move... Along with senior Mary Dunn, the Mount has several players making a move on the program's all-time scoring chart.
• Senior Leah Westbrooks has 541 career points to rank 49th in program history and can move into 48th place with six points. Westbrooks also ranks 13th in Mount Division I history with six double-doubles and can move into eighth place with four double-doubles.
• Junior Sandra Andresson currently sits in 58th place in program history with 450 points and can move into 57th place with one point and 56th place with 26 points.
• Sophomore Sydney Henderson has 160 career points to sit in 85th place. She can move into 84th place with 13 points and 83rd place with 15 points.
• Sophomore Selina Mann has 260 points for her career to rank 73rd in team history and can move into 72nd place with 15 points.
• Freshman Ashley Christie has 191 points in her first season to rank 82nd in program history. The freshman can move into 81st place with two points, 80th place with six points and 79th place with 13 points.
• Sophomore Tara Lonergan and freshman Kayla Grossett both recently surpassed 100 points in their career. Lonergan has 132 points and Grossett has 114 points. Each player can move into 100th place in team history when she reaches 138 points.

1,000 games in program history... Mount St. Mary's played its 1,000th game in program history on Jan. 8 against Robert Morris.
• The Mount is 633-373 in program history.

bcs schools on the schedule... The first six games in the 2010-11 campaign could have arguably been the toughest start in program history.
• The Mount faced Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia in the season opener and Big East affiliates Cincinnati on Nov. 23 and Pittsburgh on Dec. 4.
• It marked the first time since the 2000-01 season the Mount will play three BCS schools when the squad faced Virginia (ACC), Georgia Tech (ACC) and Seton Hall (Big East).
• Mount St. Mary's also played three big conference schools in 1988-89 and 1994-95.

in the non-conference slate... Mount St. Mary's is 74-115 in non-conference games since joining the Northeast Conference in 1989-90.

home sweet home... In its 24th season at Knott Arena, Mount St. Mary's has posted a 204-102 overall mark, including 69-43 in non-conference play and 135-59 in league play since moving across Route 15 from Memorial Gym.

northeast conference history... Prior to last season, the Mount had advanced to 20-straight Northeast Conference Tournaments.
• Mount St. Mary's is 17-17 in the NEC Tournament.
• The Mountaineers have not won a tournament game since a 50-45 win against Sacred Heart on Mar. 4, 2001.
• Mount St. Mary's won tournaments in 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95, including earning the league's first two NCAA Division I bids.

the underlining whit... Head coach Bryan Whitten is in his four season at the Mount in 2009-10. The Mount is 36-72 overall under Whitten.
• Whitten has defeated all 11 other teams in the NEC.
• The Mount is 15-34 overall at Knott Arena and 10-22 in NEC play under Whitten.
• The Mountaineers fair better on the road with a 21-38 overall mark away from Emmitsburg and 11-19 in league play.
• Whitten picked up his first Mount win with a 55-51 decision at Lafayette on Nov. 17, 2007 and earned his 25th career in at Lafayette on Nov. 30, 2009.
• Whitten earned his 250th win of his career against Quinnipiac on Jan. 30, 2010.

foreign flavor... Mount St. Mary's has three international players on the roster at the same time for the first time in program history.
• Senior Leah Westbrooks (Ireland) was the third international player at the Mount, junior Sandra Andresson (Estonia) became the fourth international player in Emmitsburg and freshman Kayla Grossett (Canada) became the fifth international player at the Mount.
• The trio follows Katie Walton (Canada, 1998-02) and Dita Krumberga (Latvia, 2004-07).
