Women's Basketball Travels To St. Francis (N.Y.) On Saturday

opening tip... Saturday's game between Mount St, Mary's and St. Francis (N.Y.) marks the 43rd meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1989-90 season.
• The Mountaineers lead the series 40-2 and have taken 19 of the 20 matchups in Brooklyn.
• The Mount has won the last four meetings after sweeping the season series in each of the last two seasons.
• The Terriers ended a 36-game losing streak against the Mount by sweeping the season series in 2007-08 for its only two wins in the series.

about the terriers... St. Francis (N.Y.) comes into the contest 2-12 overall and 0-4 in Northeast Conference play after falling 53-33 to Central Connecticut State on Monday.
• Freshman G Jasmin Robinson paced the Terriers with 16 points against the Blue Devils. Robinson posted a career-high 21 points in a 57-54 win against Stony Brook on Dec. 31. The freshman is third on the squad with 5.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore F Autumn Lau leads the team with 10.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. The sophomore has paced the team in points five times this season, including 16 points in a 63-55 win against IUPUI on Dec. 12.
• Sophomore G Amber Lau ranks right behind her twin sister with 6.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. The sophomore has been the team's top scorer twice this season, including registering 13 points in a 66-54 loss against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 2.
• Sophomore G Stefanie Bingham is averaging 5.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Bingham posted a season-high 16 points in a 62-42 loss against Delaware State on Dec. 22. The sophomore had 10 points in a 66-38 loss to Penn on Dec. 29.

last time we met... Mary Dunn tallied 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Mount St. Mary's past St. Francis (N.Y.) 61-33 on Jan. 21, 2010. Cassie Cooke added 10 points and four steals for the Mount in the winning effort. Autumn Lau paced the Terriers with 10 points and six rebounds in the loss.

last time out... Saint Francis (Pa.) downed Mount St. Mary's 75-62 on Monday. Senior Mary Dunn paced the Mount with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

quick hits on saint francis pa. game... For the third time this season, the Mount did not hold a lead in the game. Saint Francis (Pa.) jumped out to a 22-3 lead and the Mount could only get as close as five points the rest of the way.
• Senior Mary Dunn paced the Mountaineers with her second double-double of the season after tallying 18 points and 12 rebounds. The senior became the 25th player in program history to reach 1,000 points with her layup at 17:05 in the second half. Dunn can move into 24th place on the program's all-time scoring list with one point. With her 12 rebounds, she also moved into ninth place in program history with 745 caroms. Dunn is the eighth player in program history to register 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in her career. The senior has posted double figures in all four NEC games and is averaging 17.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in league play. Dunn ranks 15th overall in scoring (11.9 ppg.) in the NEC, but is third in scoring in conference games.
• Freshman Kelly Guerriero added a career-high 11 points after connecting on 3 of 4 shots from behind the arc. It was the freshman's second double-figure performance this season and the first since she had 10 points against Navy on Dec. 8.
• Sophomore Tara Lonergan added her third 10-point performance in her last five games with 10 points on Monday. The sophomore is averaging 7.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in the starting lineup.
• Freshman Ashley Christie also reached double figures after scoring 10 points against the Red Flash. Christie has recorded six double-figure performances in her first season (four on the road and two at home).
• Mount St. Mary's had four players in double figures for the second time this season. The first time was against San Francisco on Dec. 31.
• The Mount has started Northeast Conference play 0-4 for the first time in program history and has lost six-straight NEC games dating back to last year.

notes on dunn's 1,000 point game... Senior Mary Dunn became the 25th player in program history to reach 1,000 points with her layup at 17:05 in the second half against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 10.
• Dunn is the first player to reach the milestone since current assistant coach Brianna Gauthier joined the club against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 7, 2009.
• Dunn is the 15th player to reach 1,000 points at home. The Mount is 11-3 in those games.
• The senior is the third 1,000-point scorer head coach Bryan Whitten has coached at the Mount, joining Gauthier and Tiffany Green (2007-08).
• Dunn is the eighth player in program history to have 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in her career.

it all starts with defense... The opponent has scored 60 points in 12 of the 15 games in 2010-11 and is averaging 69.0 points per game.
• Last season, the Mount allowed 60 points or more 11 times. The Mountaineers also ranked second in scoring defense (58.7 ppg.) in the Northeast Conference and 37th in Division I.
• The Mount has allowed 60 points in a game 55 times under head coach Bryan Whitten.

• The Mount returns home to host Quinnipiac (Jan. 22) and Sacred Heart (Jan. 24).

on the road... Mount St. Mary's is 2-7 on the road this season and is averaging 43.9 points per game.
• Senior Mary Dunn is averaging 10.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game on the road this season. Dunn has posted double figures in four of her last five road games. The senior registered 18 points against Loyola on Dec. 11, 12 points against Sacred Heart on Dec. 20, a career-high 26 points against San Francisco on Dec. 31 and 17 points against Quinnipiac on Jan. 4. Dunn is averaging 15.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in her last five road games.
• Sophomore Selina Mann is averaging 9.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game on the road. Mann has also been impressive in her last six games with four 10-point performances. Mann tallied 11 points, seven rebounds and seven assists against Navy on Dec. 8, 10 points against the Greyhounds, a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29 and 14 points and eight rebounds against the Dons. The sophomore is averaging 11.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in her last six road tilts.
• Freshman Ashley Christie has four double-figure games on the road.
• Sophomore Tara Lonergan has two 10-point games in her last three contests while junior Sandra Andresson, freshman Kayla Grossett, freshman Kelly Guerriero each have one double-figure performance this season away from Knott Arena.

in the last five... The Mount is 2-3 in its last five games and is averaging 66.8 points per game.
• Senior Mary Dunn is averaging 17.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in the last five games. The senior has registered four double-figure performances in that stretch, including a career-high 26 points against San Francisco on Dec. 31, 17 points at Quinnipiac on Jan. 4, 21 points against Robert Morris and 18 points and 12 rebounds against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 10.
• Sophomore Selina Mann is averaging 12.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game in the last five games. The sophomore a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29, 14 points against the Dons and 12 points against the Colonials.

stat stuffer... Sophomore Selina Mann has done it all on the court this season whether its scoring, rebounding, assisting or thievery.
• Mann has scored double figures in five games this season, including five of the last 10 games. The sophomore notched a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29 and scored the game-winning basket against San Francisco on Dec. 31.
• The sophomore has grabbed at least five rebounds twice this season and the 5-4 guard has a 10-board game on her career resume.
• Mann has dished out four assists 11 times this season, including a career-high eight helpers against the Dons and seven dimes at Navy on Dec. 8. She ranks second in the league with 4.40 assists per game.
• The sophomore has recorded two steals in 13 of the 15 games and four steals four times, including a career-best five thefts against San Francisco. Mann currently leads the conference with 2.60 steals per game.

tops in the league... Mount St. Mary's has posted the most wins in the Northeast Conference since joining the league in 1989-90 with 241 victories.
• The Mount has the third-most wins in league history, trailing only Monmouth (255) and Saint Francis (Pa.) (260).
• The Mount is 241-134 in Northeast Conference play, including 135-56 at Knott Arena and 106-78 on the road.

wins vs. losses... Mount St. Mary's is averaging 72.0 points per game in its three wins compared to 49.5 points per game in the 11 loses. The squad is 3-2 when it reaches 60 points.
• The Mountaineers are shooting 43.6 percent when it wins, but just 32.2 percent in a loss.
• Mount St. Mary's has been outrebounded in every game except Quinnipiac, but are only -5.3 on boards in wins and -11.2 in losses.

that was a career day... Freshman Kelly Guerriero had a career-best 11 points against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 10.
• Freshman Kayla Grossett notched a career-high 15 points against Quinnipiac on Jan. 4.
• Senior Mary Dunn notched a career-high 26 points against San Francisco on Dec. 31.
• Sophomore Selina Mann scored a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29. Fellow sophomore Tara Lonergan also established a career-best against the Spartans with 13 points.
• Freshman Jessie Kaufman each recorded a career-high nine points against Cincinnati on Nov. 23.
• Freshman Ashley Christie posted a career-high 14 points against UMES on Nov. 20.
• Sophomore Sydney Henderson had a career-high 17 points against Virginia on Nov. 14.

a new year, a new start... In January, the Mount is 217-86 and 132-78 since switching to Division I.
• The Mountaineers are 69-30 at home and 64-38 on the road since switching to Division I.
• Once the New Year hits, the Mount has posted a 468-217 overall mark and a 267-146 since turning Division I in the last three months of the season.
• The Mount is 10-20 under head coach Bryan Whitten in the month.
• Mount St. Mary's is 6-10 at home and 4-10 on the road in the month under Whitten.

hearing your name called at the start... Head coach Bryan Whitten has only had 18 players start in his four-year tenure at the Mount.
• The Mount has used three different starting lineups this season.
• Senior Mary Dunn has started 103-straight games in her career.
• Senior Leah Westbrooks started 67 games in her career and 55 of the last 60 games.
• Junior Sandra Andresson has started 63 of the 76 games she has played.
• Sophomore Sydney Henderson started 15 of the 26 games she has played, including 10 straight.
• Freshman Ashley Christie has started the first 15 games of her collegiate career.
• Freshman Jessie Kaufman started the first nine games of the season before fellow freshman Kayla Grossett started games against Sacred Heart and San Jose State before sophomore Tara Lonergan made her first career start against San Francisco and has started the last four games.

three-pointer to start scoring is deadly for the mount... Mount St. Mary's registered a 3-pointer for its first field goal of the game six times this season. The Mount is 0-8 in those games.
• The squad has hit a trey to start its scoring against Virginia (Nov. 14), Cincinnati (Nov. 23), Towson (Dec. 1), Pittsburgh (Dec. 4), Navy (Dec. 8), Loyola (Dec. 11), Quinnipiac (Jan. 4) and Saint Francis (Pa.).
• Freshman Jessie Kaufman has hit the squad's opening 3-pointer in four of the six games.
• The Mountaineers are 3-4 when its first field goal comes from inside the arc.

preseason poll... Mount St. Mary's was picked 11th according to the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Long Island, who advanced to the NEC Championship Game last season, received six first-place votes to be tabbed as the preseason favorite while the defending league regular season champions Robert Morris was selected second after garnering three first-place nods. Sacred Heart placed third ahead of the defending NEC Tournament champions Saint Francis (Pa.), who picked up two first place votes while Monmouth nabbed the final first-place vote to finish fifth in the poll. Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut State, Bryant, Fairleigh Dickinson, Wagner, the Mount and St. Francis (N.Y.) rounded out the 12-team field.

the good and the bad for henderson... Sophomore Sydney Henderson scored a career-high 17 points against Virginia on Nov. 14.
• Henderson scored 13 of her 17 points in the first eight minutes of the second half.
• After establishing a new career-high on her bucket with 12:01 left in the second half, the sophomore left the game with a knee injury.
• Henderson will miss the rest of the season due to the knee injury sustained in the game against Virginia.

let's play to 60 points... Mount St. Mary's is most successful under head coach Bryan Whitten when it scores 60 points in a game or holds the opponent under that total.
• The Mount is 20-13 when it scores 60 points in a game, but 14-51 when it does not reach 60 points.
• Defensively, the Mountaineers are 26-22 when the opponents are held under 60 points and 8-46 when the opponent reaches 60 points.

three keys to whitten success... The Mount is most successful under head coach Bryan Whitten when the squad leads at halftime, in rebounding or keeps the opponent under 60 points.
• The Mount is 27-13 when he holds the lead at halftime, 2-2 when the game is tied, but just 6-53 when trailing at the break.
• The squad is 15-15 when it holds a rebounding edge in a game, but just 18-49 when the opponent has the advantage and 2-4 when the two teams have equal boards.
• Mount St. Mary's is 26-22 when it holds opponents under 60 points.

hitting 20 points in a game... Senior Mary Dunn and sophomore Selina Mann are the only two players on the roster that has scored 20 points in a game in their career.
• Dunn posted a career-high 26 points against San Francisco on Dec. 31 and had 21 points against Robert Morris on Jan. 8. The senior also accomplished the feat twice last season when she recorded 21 points against Colgate on Nov. 24, 2009 and had 20 points against Long Island on Jan. 16, 2010.
• Mann became the first player this season to turn the trick when she posted a career-high 26 points against San Jose State on Dec. 29, 2010.
• The Mount has registered 19 20-point performances and two 30-point games under head coach Bryan Whitten. The squad is 11-8 when a player reaches 20 points and 2-0 when a player scores 30 in a contest.

dunn on the all-time lists... Senior Mary Dunn is making a mark on the program's all-time list.
• The senior currently sits in 25th place in program history with 1,007 career points. Next on the list is Bernadine Bocus (1,007, 1982-86).
• The senior also ranks seventh in program history in rebounds per game (7.3 rpg.). Dunn moved into ninth place on the program's all-time rebounding list with 745 caroms after grabbing 12 boards against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 10. The senior can move into eighth place and ahead of Susie Rowlyk (766, 1991-95) with 22 rebounds.
• Dunn also ranks seventh in Mount Division I history with 15 career double-doubles. She can move up a spot with two double-doubles.
• The senior is also third on the Mount's games started list with 103 career starts and can move into second place with eight starts to tie former teammate and current assistant coach Brianna Gauthier (109, 2005-09).

other players on the move... Along with senior Mary Dunn, the Mount has several players making a move on the program's all-time scoring chart.
• Senior Leah Westbrooks has 533 career points to rank 50th in program history and can move into 49th place with four points and into 48th place with 14 points. Westbrooks also ranks 13th in Mount Division I history with six double-doubles and can move into eighth place with four double-doubles.
• Junior Sandra Andresson currently sits in 60th place in program history with 431 points and can move into 59th place with four points and 58th place with eight points.
• Sophomore Sydney Henderson has 160 career points to sit in 85th place. She can move into 84th place with 13 points and 83rd place with 15 points.
• Sophomore Selina Mann has 224 points for her career to rank 76th in team history and can move into 74th place with 15 points.
• Freshman Ashley Christie has 131 points in her first season to move into the program's Top-100. The freshman can move into 99th place with seven points, 98th place with nine points, 97th place with 13 points, 96th place with 14 points, 95th place with 16 points, 94th place with 17 points and 92nd place with 20 points.

1,000 games in program history... Mount St. Mary's played its 1,000th game in program history on Saturday against Robert Morris.
• The Mount is 632-369 in program history.

bcs schools on the schedule... The first six games in the 2010-11 campaign could have arguably been the toughest start in program history.
• The Mount faced Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia in the season opener and Big East affiliates Cincinnati on Nov. 23 and Pittsburgh on Dec. 4.
• It marked the first time since the 2000-01 season the Mount will play three BCS schools when the squad faced Virginia (ACC), Georgia Tech (ACC) and Seton Hall (Big East).
• Mount St. Mary's also played three big conference schools in 1988-89 and 1994-95.

freshmen for one-two-three... Freshmen Jessie Kaufman, Ashley Christie, Rachel Mathews and Kayla Grossett each knocked down their first career shot attempt in the game against Virginia.
• Kaufman gave the Mount a 3-2 lead with a 3-pointer 35 seconds into the game and Christie nailed 3-ball of her own to reclaim the lead for the Mountaineers at 6-4 with 18:28 left in the first half.
• Mathews recorded a 3-point play the traditional way after scoring a layup at 15:55 and then converting the free throw to give Mount St. Mary's a 9-7 advantage.
• Grossett nailed a 3-pointer on her first collegiate attempt at 5:25 in the second half.

in their debut... The five freshmen each saw action against Virginia on Nov. 14.
• Ashley Christie and Jessie Kaufman both made their collegiate debut in the starting lineup. Christie posted 13 points, including 10 in the second half, along with two rebounds and two assists. Kaufman had eight points, three rebounds, an assist and a block.
• Kayla Grossett, Rachel Mathews and Kelly Guerriero each saw time off the bench. Grossett had six points and two rebounds while Mathews had three points, three rebounds and an assist. Guerriero played the final 1:55 and missed her own shot attempt. Guerriero notched her first collegiate point in the second half against American on Nov. 17.

in the non-conference slate... Mount St. Mary's is 74-115 in non-conference games since joining the Northeast Conference in 1989-90.

home sweet home... In its 24th season at Knott Arena, Mount St. Mary's has posted a 204-100 overall mark, including 69-43 in non-conference play and 135-57 in league play since moving across Route 15 from Memorial Gym.

northeast conference history... Prior to last season, the Mount had advanced to 20-straight Northeast Conference Tournaments.
• Mount St. Mary's is 17-17 in the NEC Tournament.
• The Mountaineers have not won a tournament game since a 50-45 win against Sacred Heart on Mar. 4, 2001.
• Mount St. Mary's won tournaments in 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95, including earning the league's first two NCAA Division I bids.

the underlining whit... Head coach Bryan Whitten is in his four season at the Mount in 2009-10. The Mount is 35-68 overall under Whitten.
• Whitten has defeated all 11 other teams in the NEC.
• The Mount is 15-32 overall at Knott Arena and 10-20 in NEC play under Whitten.
• The Mountaineers fair better on the road with a 20-36 overall mark away from Emmitsburg and 10-17 in league play.
• Whitten picked up his first Mount win with a 55-51 decision at Lafayette on Nov. 17, 2007 and earned his 25th career in at Lafayette on Nov. 30, 2009.
• Whitten earned his 250th win of his career against Quinnipiac on Jan. 30, 2010.

foreign flavor... Mount St. Mary's has three international players on the roster at the same time for the first time in program history.
• Senior Leah Westbrooks (Ireland) was the third international player at the Mount, junior Sandra Andresson (Estonia) became the fourth international player in Emmitsburg and freshman Kayla Grossett (Canada) became the fifth international player at the Mount.
• The trio follows Katie Walton (Canada, 1998-02) and Dita Krumberga (Latvia, 2004-07).
