EMMITSBURG, Md. - Saint Francis (Pa.) defeated Mount St. Mary's 75-62 in Northeast Conference (NEC) women's basketball action on Monday.

Mary Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic) became the 25th player in program history to reach 1,000 points in her career with her layup at the 17:05 mark in the second half. Dunn paced the Mount (3-12, 0-4 NEC) with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Kelly Guerriero (Floral Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) added a career-high 11 points while Ashley Christie (Miamisburg, Ohio/Archbishop Alter) and Tara Lonergan (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) each registered 10 points in the loss.

Brittany Lilley fueled the Red Flash (9-7, 4-0 NEC) with 18 points. Samantha Leach posted 15 points, Allison Daly had 14 points and Alexandra Williams chipped in 13 points off the bench. Daly, who hails from Harrisburg, Pa., also scored her 1,000th point in the game on her final basket at the 10:37 mark in the second half to become the 20th player in Saint Francis history to reach the milestone.

While players for both side set to celebrate an individual accomplishment, the Red Flash jumped out to a big lead to start the game and held on after a couple of Mount St. Mary's furious comeback attempts for its fourth-straight win against the Mountaineers.

Saint Francis (Pa.) started the game by scoring 23 of the first 27 points of the night to take the lead it would not relinquish.

Lilley got the scoring started on a layup at 18:58 before Leach scored in the paint at 18:18 for a 4-0 advantage.

Dunn momentarily halted the Red Flash offense with a 3-pointer at 17:39, but Lilley scored on a layup and Daly nailed a 3-ball at 17:00 for a 9-3 edge. Leach then hit a jumper at 16:15, Daly drilled another triple at 15:14 and Lilley scored a basket at 14:45 for a 16-3 lead.

Dunn then hit 1 of 2 at the line to trim the deficit to 16-4 at 14:03, but Daly converted two free throws, Nickia Gibbs hit a jumper and Lilley drained a 3-pointer for a 23-4 margin with 12:02 left in the first half.

Trailing by 19, Mount St. Mary's went on a 17-4 run to cut the deficit to 27-21 with 6:38 left in the stanza. Guerriero keyed the surge with two 3-balls while Dunn had four points in the stretch.

Lilley stopped the Mount run with a traditional 3-point play at 5:35 and Williams hit the frontend of two free throws at 4:48 to restore a 10-point lead at 4:48 and help Saint Francis (Pa.) go into the locker room with a 37-26 advantage.

The Mount came out of the break to trim the margin to 40-35 with 17:05 on the clock. After Shene Fleming hit 1 of 2 at the free throw line to start the frame, the Mountaineers scored the next seven points. Dunn started the spurt with a jumper at 19:10, Christie drained a 3-pointer at 17:55 and Lonergan hit a jumper at 17:24 to make it a five-point game. Leach and Dunn then traded baskets with Dunn's breaking the 1,000-point barrier at 17:05.

The Red Flash responded with an 18-4 run to take a 60-39 lead with 10:04 on the clock. Daly had six points, including her 1,000 point while Leach added five points in the run.

Mount St. Mary's made one last furious comeback attempt with an 18-2 surge to once again cut the margin to five points with 5:40 on the clock. Christie was the catalyst for the run with seven points.

After Sandra Andresson's (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentes School) basket at 5:40 to cut the margin to 62-57, Allison Smith answered with a jumper to start a 13-3 run and the Mount could get no closer the rest of the way.

Dunn notched her second double-double of the season and the 15th of her career. The senior moved into ninth place on the program's all-time career rebounding list with 745 rebounds. She becomes the ninth player in program history to register 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in her career.

Dunn became the 15th player to score her 1,000th point at home and the first since Samira Rashid against Wagner on Feb. 15, 2006. The senior is the first player since current assistant coach Brianna Gauthier reached the milestone against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 7, 2009.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Saturday at St. Francis (N.Y.). Game time is 2 p.m.
