HACKENSACK, N.J. - Liz Christiansen (Etters, Pa./Red Land) tied the single-season program record for home runs and RBIs to lift Mount St. Mary's past Fairleigh Dickinson 8-1 in the first game of a Northeast Conference (NEC) softball doubleheader on Saturday. The Knights won the nightcap, 5-4.

Christiansen went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and a runs scored in the opening game. Her three run homer in the first tied Danyale Goode's single-season home run mark of 10 set back in 2006 while her RBI double in the fifth tied Goode's single-season RBI record of 45 also established in 2006.

Taylor Beebe (Olympia, Wash./Capital) added a hit and five runs scored for the Mount (24-23, 6-10 NEC) while Beth Everist (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) posted four hits, five RBIs and a run scored in the two games.

Mikayla Fernandez fueled the Knights (14-30, 4-12 NEC) with five hits and two RBIs and Dana Walker chipped in two hits, two RBIs and a run scored in the second game.

In the opener, Mount St. Mary's jumped out to a 3-0 advantage and never looked back to take an 8-1 win.

Beebe opened the game with a walk, Courtney Zingle (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) reached on an error before Christiansen belted her team-leading 10th home run of the year for a 3-0 advantage in the first.

Fairleigh Dickinson answered with a run in the fourth on a Kristen Shreve RBI single up the middle to trim the margin to 3-1.

The Mount added a run in the fifth to restore a three-run margin. Beebe reached on an error and touched home on Christiansen's double to center. Lisa Curreri (Clinton, N.J./North Hunterdon) then led off the sixth with her fifth homer of the year to increase the advantage to 5-1.

Mount St. Mary's put the game away in the seventh with three runs. After Beebe singled to shortstop and Zingle singled through the left side, the duo touched home on Everist's eighth homer of the year to cap the 8-1 victory.

Amanda Sadowl (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) allowed one run on nine hits with one strikeout for her 13th win of the year, one victory away from the single-season program record.

In the nightcap, Fairleigh Dickinson rallied from a 2-0 deficit to score five of the final seven runs to earn the 5-4 come-from-behind decision.

With the game tied at 4, Walker plated the decisive run on a single through the right side in the bottom of the sixth. The Mountaineers were then retired 1-2-3 in the seventh.

The Mount jumped out to a 2-0 advantage with single runs in the first and second. Beebe walked and touched home on Everist's RBI single in the first before Erin Leddy (Great Mills, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) smacked her second homer in the second.

Trailing 2-0, the Knights took the lead with four runs in the fourth. Walker and Kristen Kinneer each recorded RBI single to tie the game before Fernandez gave Fairleigh Dickinson a 4-2 lead on a two-run single through the left side.

The Mountaineers tied the game in the next inning with two runs. Leddy started the rally with a single up the middle and touched home on an error. Everist then singled to right field to plate Beebe with the tying run. Fairleigh Dickinson then scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to earn the split.

Leddy went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Along with tying the single-season program record in homers and RBIs, Christiansen moved into second for doubles (13) and third in total bases (92) for a single season while jumping into a tie with former teammate Amanda Burk (14, 2006-09) for second in career homers with 14.

Everist jumped into third place in homers (8) sixth in RBIs (31) and seventh in total bases (70) on the single-season list while Amanda Buckel (Finksburg, Md./North Carroll) moved into seventh on the single-season chart for two baggers (11).

Zingle moved into 10th in hits in a single season (44) while cracking the program's Top-10 in career hits (115) and at-bats (420). With her homer, Curreri moved into eighth place for homers in a single season (5) and sixth for a career (10). Nicole Reeder (Glen Burnie, Md./Archbishop Spalding) moved into eighth place for career games played (148).

Sadowl also made some jumps on the list, moving into sixth for appearances on the year (30) and seventh with 17 career wins in program history.

Mount St. Mary's, who has posted the second most wins in program history, returns to action on Sunday at Monmouth. First pitch is 12 p.m.
