BALTIMORE, Md. - Georgetown and UMBC both overcame deficits to defeat Mount St. Mary's at the UMBC Softball Spring Classic on Sunday. The Hoyas defeated the Mount 7-3 and the Retrievers won 8-5.

Lisa Curreri (Clinton, N.J/North Hunterdon) paced the Mountaineers (12-10) with three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs while Courtney Zingle (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) added three hits and two runs scored on the afternoon. Amanda Buckel (Finksburg, Md./North Carroll) went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored against UMBC.

In the nightcap, UMBC (13-6) scored seven times in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a 5-1 deficit for an 8-5 come-from-behind victory. The decisive rally started with Amanda Fefel and Emily Thompson coaxing bases loaded walks before Malorie Weller plated a run on a groundout to trim the margin to 5-4. Angela Yannone then handed the Retrievers the lead for good on a three-run double to left center before Lauren O'Malley capped the seven-run inning with an RBI single.

The Mount jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third when Zingle singled and came around to score on Curreri's two-run homer down the left field line.

UMBC answered with a run in the bottom of the inning on a run-scoring single by Kaela Mason to trim the margin to 2-1.

Mount St. Mary's responded right back with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to grab a 5-1 edge.

Buckel doubled and came around to score on Erin Leddy's (Great Mills, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) RBI single to center in the fourth. After Curreri reached on an error and Liz Christiansen (Etters, Pa./Red Land) walked to start the fifth, Buckel and Jenna Zimmerman (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) recorded back-to-back RBI singles to right center to plate Curreri and Christiansen to increase the advantage to four runs. The Retrievers then scored seven times in the sixth to go on for the 8-5 win.

In the opener, Georgetown (7-13) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to score seven unanswered runs to come away with a 7-3 victory.

The Hoyas tied the game at 2 with two runs in the bottom of the first thanks to a Demetria Cipriano two-run double to left.

Georgetown took the lead in the next inning after scoring four runs to grab a 6-2 advantage. Jadig Garcia and Samantha Peters each scored on errors before Cipriano plated two more runs on her second double of the afternoon.

The Hoyas added a run in the fifth on a Kelsie Hanson RBI single for a 7-2 margin.

Beth Everist (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) kept her power stroke going in the tournament with her third home run of the weekend in the sixth to trim the margin to 7-3 in the sixth.

The Mountaineers grabbed a 2-0 edge in the top of the first inning. After Zingle singled to left center and Curreri reached on a bunt base hit, Christiansen brought home Zingle on a sacrifice fly to right. Zimmerman reached on an error to score Curreri, but Georgetown scored the next seven runs to go on for the victory.

Everist's five home runs the first 22 games are the most round trippers since Danyale Goode posted six homers in her first 22 games in 2006. The junior moved into sixth place on the program's all-time career home run list with nine long balls.

Curreri moved into sixth place on the program's all-time career hits (132), fifth in total bases (189), fourth in games played (157) and fourth in at-bats (469).
