• Sophomore C Myesha Broaden paced the Spartans with 19 points
and five rebounds against UC Davis. The sophomore is averaging 5.5
points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
• Junior F Brittany Johnson added 16 points in the squad's
last game. The junior tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds in a 73-64
loss against Cal Poly on Dec. 18. Johnson leads the team with 10.8
points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore G Sayja Sumler added 11 points, five rebounds and
five assists against UC Davis. The sophomore is averaging 7.3
points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
• Senior G Sara Plavljanin chipped in 10 points in San Jose
State's last game. Placljanin posted 15 points in the loss to Cal
Poly. The senior ranks second on the squad with 9.2 points and 3.6

• The Mount defeated Fordham 56-43 on Dec. 27, 2008, lost at
Canisius 77-62 and downed Penn 60-48 on Dec. 29, 2009.
• The game against San Jose State will mark the third time the
Mount has faced a winless team in the first game after the holiday
(Fordham and Penn).
last time out... Sacred Heart defeated Mount
St. Mary's 76-51 on Dec. 20 in the Northeast Conference opener for
both teams. Senior Mary Dunn paced the Mount with 12 points and
five rebounds while freshman Ashley Christie added 11 points and
five steals.
quick hits on sacred heart game... Mount St.
Mary's held the lead three times in the first six minutes of the
game. With the game tied at 13, the Pioneers closed the half with a
24-11 run to take the lead they would not relinquish.
• Mount St. Mary's has lost seven-games in a row for the first
time since head coach Bryan Whitten's first season in 2007-08 when
the Mount lost seven straight from Nov. 20 to Dec. 19. It is the
squad's fifth seven-game losing streak in program history (1974-75,
2000-01, 2004-05, 2007-08, 2010-11). The five seven-game losing
streaks are the only times in program history the squad has lost
more than four games in a row and the longest streak in program
history.
• Senior Mary Dunn paced the Mount with 12 points and five
rebounds. The senior is averaging 12.0 points and 6.1 rebounds per
game in her last three contests.
• Freshman Ashley Christie added 11 points and a career-high
five steals. It was the freshman's fourth double-digit performance
this season to tie Dunn for the team lead.
• Freshman Kayla Grossett made her first collegiate start in
the game, registering six points, four rebounds and four assists in
27 minutes. The freshman replaced fellow freshman Jessie Kaufman in
the starting five after Kaufman started the first eight games of
the year.
• Junior Sandra Andresson is averaging 9.0 points and 4.5
rebounds per game over her last two games. Andresson has grabbed at

Sacred Heart placed third ahead of the defending NEC Tournament
champions Saint Francis (Pa.), who picked up two first place votes
while Monmouth nabbed the final first-place vote to finish fifth in
the poll. Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut State, Bryant, Fairleigh

the good and the bad for henderson... Sophomore
Sydney Henderson scored a career-high 17 points against Virginia on
Nov. 14.
• Henderson scored 13 of her 17 points in the first eight
minutes of the second half.
• After establishing a new career-high on her bucket with
12:01 left in the second half, the sophomore left the game with a
knee injury.
• Henderson will miss the rest of the season due to the knee
injury sustained in the game against Virginia.
bcs schools on the schedule... The first six
games in the 2010-11 campaign could have arguably been the toughest
start in program history.
• The Mount faced Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia in

• The senior currently sits in 27th place in program history
with 920career points. She can pass Rose Stephens (925, 1976-80)
with 16 points.
• The senior also ranks seventh in program history in rebounds
per game (7.3 rpg.). Dunn moved into 10th place on the program's
all-time rebounding list with 708 caroms after grabbing six boards
against Loyola on Dec. 11. The senior can moved into ninth place
and ahead of Bernadine Bocus (735, 1982-86) with 38 rebounds.
• Dunn also ranks seventh in Mount Division I history with 14
career double-doubles. She can move up a spot with three next
double-double.
• The senior is also fourth on the Mount's games started list

freshmen for one-two-three... Freshmen Jessie
Kaufman, Ashley Christie, Rachel Mathews and Kayla Grossett each
knocked down their first career shot attempt in the game against
Virginia.
• Kaufman gave the Mount a 3-2 lead with a 3-pointer 35
seconds into the game and Christie nailed 3-ball of her own to
reclaim the lead for the Mountaineers at 6-4 with 18:28 left in the
first half.
• Mathews recorded a 3-point play the traditional way after
scoring a layup at 15:55 and then converting the free throw to give
Mount St. Mary's a 9-7 advantage.
• Grossett nailed a 3-pointer on her first collegiate attempt
at 5:25 in the second half.
in their debut... The five freshmen each saw
action against Virginia on Nov. 14.
• Ashley Christie and Jessie Kaufman both made their
collegiate debut in the starting lineup. Christie posted 13 points,
including 10 in the second half, along with two rebounds and two
assists. Kaufman had eight points, three rebounds, an assist and a
block.
• Kayla Grossett, Rachel Mathews and Kelly Guerriero each saw
time off the bench. Grossett had six points and two rebounds while
Mathews had three points, three rebounds and an assist. Guerriero
played the final 1:55 and missed her own shot attempt. Guerriero
notched her first collegiate point in the second half against
American on Nov. 17.
tops in the league... Mount St. Mary's has
posted the most wins in the Northeast Conference since joining the
league in 1989-90 with 241 victories.
• The Mount has the third-most wins in league history,
trailing only Monmouth (253) and Saint Francis (Pa.) (247).

coaching changes... For the third-straight
season, head coach Bryan Whitten has made changes to his coaching
staff. Denise King and Lisa Steele both moved up a chair while
Whitten added Mount alumni Brianna Gauthier this season.
• King is in her second season at the Mount after serving as
an assistant coach at Rhode Island for the last four years.
• Steele is also in her second season at the Mount after
ending her four-year career at George Washington in 2008-09 after
registering 206 points and 107 rebounds with the Colonials.
• Gauthier returns to the Mount after serving as an assistant
coach under former Mount assistant Mark Zacher at Norwich, a
Division III school in Vermont. A 2009 graduate of the Mount, she
finished her career 18th in program history in all-time career
points (1,128), second in 3-pointers made (164), second in
3-pointers attempted (490) and ninth in assists (335). Gauthier
briefly played professionally in Sweden before joining the Norwich
coaching staff last season.
