Emmitsburg, Md. (November 27, 2010)--Mount St. Mary's stretched its homecourt win streak to 11 games with a 70-61 victory over Florida A&M at Knott Arena on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Raven Barber (Edgewood, Md./Paul VI [Va.]) posted career highs of 16 points and 10 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double to pace the Mountaineers.

Junior Lamar Trice (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) added career highs with 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists off the bench for the Mountaineers while Shawn Atupem (Newport News, Va./Woodside) added 15 points and seven rebounds in the win. Julian Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown) chipped in 12 points and five boards in the win as well.

The win extended the Mount's homecourt win streak to 11 games, matching the longest homecourt win streak at the Mount since a 16-game streak that spanned the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons.

Leading 35-32 early in the second half, the Mount went on a 21-10 run to grab a 56-42 lead with 8:29 left in the game. Barber scored seven points with Trice chipping in four points and a pair of assists during the run.

The Mount extended the lead to as much as 17 points before posting the nine-point victory. The Mount (2-3) hit 13 of its first 17 shots en route to a 41-point second half. The Mountaineers finished the stanza shooting 15-of-25 (.600) from the field.

Anim Stevens led the Rattlers (2-4) with 14 points and six rebounds off the bench while Yannick Crowder chipped in a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair with 10 lead changes and six ties. The Mount jumped to an 11-6 lead only to see Florida A&M score the next eight points to grab a 14-11 advantage.

Florida A&M held a 24-22 lead late in the first half, but a 6-0 run that featured a Trice lay-up, a bucket by Jacolby Wells (Emporia, Va./Greensville County) and Norfleet jumper off the glass gave the Mountaineers a 28-24 lead. The Mount went to the locker room with a 29-25 advantage.

Mount St. Mary's held Florida A&M to 33.8 percent shooting from the field and 5-of-21 (.238) from three-point range in the game. After being outrebounded by 10 in the first half, the Mount held a 22-to-11 margin on the boards in the second half to post a 40-to-39 edge in rebounds in the game.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Monday night when Navy visits Knott Arena for a 7:00 p.m. game.

Game Notes...This was the final game for the Mount in the Global Sports Main Event, a five-team round robin tournament. The Mount finished the tournament with a 2-2 record with home wins over Savannah State and Florida A&M and road losses to Dayton and Cincinnati...The Mount had three freshmen in the starting lineup for the first time since Nov. 30, 2005...Norfleet, David Golladay (Upper Marlboro, Md./Wise) and Josh Castellanos (Orlando, Fla./Orlando Christian Prep) were in the Mount's starting five.
