Mary's and Cincinnati marks the first meeting between the two
programs.
• Mount St. Mary's is 8-23 all-time against the Big East and
1-20 since switching to Division I in 1988-89.
• The Mount has played Georgetown (5-11), Notre Dame (1-0),
St. John's (0-2), Seton Hall (0-2), Pittsburgh (0-3), Villanova
(0-3) and West Virginia (2-3).
• The Mount's lone Division I win was a 78-75 decision over
West Virginia on Dec. 6, 1994. All five of the Mountaineers wins
against Georgetown came prior to 1988-89 and the win against the
Irish was in 1981.
• The contest against the Bearcats marks the first time the
team will play a game in the state of Ohio. The last time Mount St.
Mary's traveled West of Pennsylvania to compete was in 2005-06 when
the team participated in the Fun In The Sun Shootout in Playa Del

• While it will be the first meeting between the Mount and
Cincinnati, the Bearcats will be facing Northeast Conference
competition for the ninth time in program history. Cincinnati is
4-0 against Saint Francis (Pa.), 2-0 against Robert Morris, 1-0
against Quinnipiac and 1-0 against Sacred Heart. The Colonials lost
to the Bearcats 65-50 on Sunday.

against the Colonials. The freshman ranks third on the team with

rebounds on Sunday. Turner is fourth on the team with 7.3 points
and a team-best 7.7 rebounds per game.
• Senior G Chanel Chisholm added 13 points against Robert
Morris. Chisholm ranks second with 9.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per
game.
• Senior G Shareese Uils leads the team with 14.0 points and
1.3 rebounds per game. The senior posted 15 points in a 55-40 win
against Southwest Baptist on Nov. 12 and 18 points in a 61-42
victory against North Florida on Nov. 14.

seconds into the game and Christie nailed 3-ball of her own to
reclaim the lead for the Mountaineers at 6-4 with 18:28 left in the

scoring a layup at 15:55 and then converting the free throw to give
Mount St. Mary's a 9-7 advantage.

• Ashley Christie and Jessie Kaufman both made their
collegiate debut in the starting lineup. Christie posted 13 points,

preseason poll... Mount St. Mary's was picked
11th according to the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.
Long Island, who advanced to the NEC Championship Game last season,
received six first-place votes to be tabbed as the preseason
favorite while the defending league regular season champions Robert
Morris was selected second after garnering three first-place nods.
Sacred Heart placed third ahead of the defending NEC Tournament
champions Saint Francis (Pa.), who picked up two first place votes
while Monmouth nabbed the final first-place vote to finish fifth in
the poll. Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut State, Bryant, Fairleigh
Dickinson, Wagner, the Mount and St. Francis (N.Y.) rounded out the
12-team field.

coaching changes... For the third-straight season,
head coach Bryan Whitten has made changes to his coaching staff.
Denise King and Lisa Steele both moved up a chair while Whitten
added Mount alumni Brianna Gauthier this season.
• King is in her second season at the Mount after serving as
an assistant coach at her alma mater, Rhode Island, for the last
four years.
• Steele is also in her second season at the Mount after
ending her four-year career at George Washington in 2008-09 after
registering 206 points and 107 rebounds with the Colonials.
• Gauthier returns to the Mount after serving as an assistant
coach under former Mount assistant Mark Zacher at Norwich, a
Division III school in Vermont. A 2009 graduate of the Mount, she
finished her career 18th in program history in all-time career
points (1,128), second in 3-pointers made (164), second in
3-pointers attempted (490) and ninth in assists (335). Gauthier
briefly played professionally in Sweden before joining the Norwich
coaching staff last season.
