Buffalo, N.Y. (April 30, 2009)--Mount St. Mary's
sophomore goalkeeper T.C. DiBartolo (Bowie, Md./Archbishop
Spalding) and junior defenseman Matt Nealis (Chatham, N.J./Chatham)
were named First Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on
Thursday night. The duo helped lead the Mount to the No. 2 seed at
the MAAC Tournament which begins today.
DiBartolo is having a standout season for
the Mount in the cage this season. He leads the MAAC in both save
percentage (.613) and saves per game (11.86) while his goals
against average of 8.03 ranks third in the league. He has recorded
double figures in saves in nine of the Mount's 14 games, including
a career-high 21 stops against Virginia and Siena. DiBartolo is
the first Mount goalkeeper to earn First Team All-MAAC honors since
Dave Lambour in 2003.
He ranks third all-time at the Mount in
goals against average (9.62), fifth in save percentage (.582) and
sixth in total saves (332). He has made 166 saves this season,
matching his total from last year for a tie for ninth on the
single-season list. His 8.03 goals against average tops the
Mount's all-time single-season list, ahead of Tom Dryer (8.86 in
2002) and Sean Elder (8.93 in 2000).
Nealis earned First Team All-MAAC honors this year after posting
Second Team All-League honors last year. The Mount's top defender,
Nealis has started every game this year, tallying two goals and 10
assists. He is the first Mount player to earn First Team All-MAAC
honors on defense since Pat Farrell in 2006.
The Mount plays Manhattan today at 4:30
p.m. in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament
semifinals at the Demske Sports Complex at Canisius College in
Buffalo.
