HONOLULU, Hawaii – Hawaii defeated Mount St. Mary's 8-0 in the first game of the Pepsi Malihini Aloha Tournament on Wednesday.

Dara Pagaduan paced the Rainbow Wahine (7-11) with a two-run home run while Alexandra Aguirre notched a hit and two RBIs. Stephanie Ricketts allowed one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts in six innings.

Hawaii jumped on the scoreboard in the third and then added runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth to earn its third win this season and fourth overall against the Mountaineers.

Pagaduan got the scoring started with a two-run homer in the third to give the Rainbow Wahine a 2-0 lead.

Hawaii added three runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Makani Duhaylonsod, a Julie Franklin bases loaded hit by pitch and bases loaded walk by Pagaduan to increase the advantage to 5-0.

Aguirre drove home two runs in the fifth on a triple and Clare Warick ended the contest with an RBI infield single in the sixth for the eight-run advantage.

Mount St. Mary's put a threat together in the fourth, but could not score. Taylor Beebe (Olympia, Wash./Capital), the current NEC Rookie of the Week, started the inning with a walk before Christiansen broke up the no-hitter with a single. Beebe and Christiansen moved into scoring position on Amanda Burk's (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson) ground out. With two outs, Nicole Reeder (Glen Burnie, Md./Archbishop Spalding) walked to load the bases before Ricketts got out of the jam with a line out.

The Mount again put runners on base in the sixth, but could not convert. Burk reached on a fielding error with two outs and Courtney Zingle (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) walked, but Ricketts got out of the inning with a strikeout and the Rainbow Wahine scored a run in the bottom of the inning to end the game.
