25), the Mount will have seven straight road games before returning
to Knott Arena to face Vermont on Dec. 30.
Next Up...The Mount returns home to face
longtime rival Loyola on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 2:00 p.m. It will
be the 164th meeting in the most-played rivalry in the state of
Maryland. The Mount has won the past two meetings with the
Greyhounds, and six of the past eight. Last season, Jeremy Goode
tallied 25 points to lead the Mount to an 84-76 victory at Loyola
in the season-opening game on November 14.
The All-Time Series...Tonight's game will be
the 58th meeting all-time between the Mount and American with the
Eagles holding a 30-27 advantage.
The teams have met in each of the past four seasons
with American taking the first three matchups and the Mount winning
57-52 at American last season.

consecutive years for the first time in 13 seasons. The Mount
appeared in the 2008 NCAA Tournament and in the inaugural
CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) last year.
How About That Schedule...One thing that you
can say about the 2009-10 Mountaineers is that they have not shied
away from playing a tough non-conference schedule.
Eight of the 11 non-conference opponents this year
were ranked in the top 100 in last season's RPI ratings. All 11
were in the top 200.
Oklahoma (#16 ESPN/USA Today/#17 AP) and Georgetown
(#20 ESPN/USA Today/#19 AP) are ranked in the top 25 while
Pittsburgh and Siena are receiving votes in both polls. In their
league's preseason polls, Siena (MAAC), Old Dominion (CAA) and
Boston University (America East) were picked to win their leagues.
In addition, Vermont (America East) and Niagara (MAAC) were both
picked to finish second in their league's preseason polls.
Getting Defensive...Head Coach Milan Brown has
built the Mount into the top defensive unit in the Northeast
Conference.
Last season, the Mount led the NEC in both scoring
defense (63.0) and field goal percentage defense (.419).
Over the past two seasons, the Mount is allowing
just 65.9 points per game, holding the opposition under 70 points
in 49 of the team's 67 games.
Taking out the Mount's 113-74 loss to top-seeded
North Carolina in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, the Mount
has held the opposition to 61.5 points and 41.2 percent shooting in
eight postseason games over the past two years.
Non-Conference Numbers...Since joining NCAA
Division I, the Mountaineers have struggled in non-conference
play. The Mountaineers are 57-136 (.295) in non-conference games
since the move to Division I in 1988-89.
Of those 193 non-conference games, 112 have been on
the road, 61 at home and 20 at a neutral site.
The Mount is 18-94 on the road, 32-29 at home and
7-13 at a neutral site in non-conference action since 1988-89.

non-conference play at the Division I level. The 2002-03 team went
5-4 in non-conference action before finishing the season with a
11-16 record.
Last year, the Mount went 5-7 in non-conference
games.
November Nuggets... Since joining NCAA Division
I in 1988-89., the Mount has not been giving thanks for its games
in November, posting an all-time record of 10-54 in the month

streak in the month with its 84-76 victory over Loyola in the
season opener. Overall, the Mount is 2-43 on the road in November
since joining DI.

of November since joining NCAA Division I. In those games, the
Mount has a 6-7 record. The Mount hosts both Loyola and Niagara in
November this year.
Head coach Milan Brown has posted a 5-21
record in the month of November.
All-time, the Mount is 32-63 in the month of
November. The Mountaineers were 22-9 in November games prior to
moving to Division I in 1988-89.
At the Division I level, the Mount is a combined
2-27 in November games against teams from the Atlantic 10, ACC, Big
East, Big 10, Conference USA and Southeastern Conferences.
King of Thieves...Not to be left out in the
steals category, Goode is currently 10th all-time at the Mount with
183 career steals. He needs 17 steals to become the sixth player
in school history to reach the 200-steal mark.
Dishing the Rock...Point guard Jeremy Goode is
closing in on the Mount's all-time assist record.
The 5-9 Goode is currently tied with John Moore
(1984-88) for second on the school's all-time list with 471.
Goode needs 55 assists to move past Gregory Harris
(529, 1996-00) for the top spot on the list.
Goode needs 49 assists to move into the top 10
all-time in Northeast Conference history. If Goode dishes out 129
assists this year, he will reach 600 for his career and finish as
the No. 2 all-time assist leader in NEC history behind Drafton
Davis (Marist, 1984-88, 804).
Goode at the Line...Point guard Jeremy Goode
has shown the knack of getting to the free throw line during his
Mount career.

Goode's points have come from the charity stripe.
In his sophomore season, Goode attempted 256 free
throws, the fifth-most in a single season in Mount history.
Home Sweet Home...The Mount enters the season
with a 10-game home-court win streak, tied for the 15th-best active
streak in the nation.
Three teams on the upcoming Mount schedule are on the
list, including Siena (3rd, 22-game), Pittsburgh (T5th, 21-game),
and Robert Morris (T12th, 11).
The Mount has not lost at Knott Arena since a 77-70 loss
to Robert Morris on Jan. 5 last season.
Starting Lineups...The Mount had a starting
five of Jeremy Goode, Jean Cajou, Kelly Beidler, Shawn Atupem and
Kristijan Krajina in the opener at Oklahoma.
Last year, head coach Milan Brown used the same starting
five in each of the team's 33 games.
The Mount, Butler and North Dakota State were the only
three teams in the nation to use the same starting lineup last
year.

year that have started a collegiate game. Jeremy Goode (95), Will

Krajina is the Mount's first international player since Pat

the team's history. Robert Balgac (1996-00, New Belgrade, Serbia),
Gerben Van Dorpe (Erembodegem, Belgium, 1994-98) and Matt Meakin
(Awsworth, England) are the others.

last year (87.7 percent).
Last season, Cajou had streaks of 25 and 17 consecutive
free throws made.

second-best in Mount history.
Helping Hand...Point guard Jeremy Goode has
been consistent in his first two-plus years as the Mount's point
guard.
Goode has dished out five or more assists in 52 of
his 98 career games, just three shy of breaking Riley Inge's school
mark of 53 five-assist games in the DI era at the Mount.

the Mount with six double-doubles last season. For the year,
Beidler averaged 10.9 points and a team-high 6.9 rebounds.
