November 17, 2008--Mount St. Mary's junior guard
Jeremy Goode (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day) has
been named the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Player of the
Week for the first week of the season. It is the second time in
his career that Goode has been named NEC Player of the Week.
Goode opened the season with 25 points, four rebounds, four assists
and a pair of steals in the Mount's 84-76 win over longtime rival
Loyola on Friday night. Goode went 6-for-11 from the field and
3-of-4 from three-point range in the game. The 25 points were just
two shy of Goode's career high of 27 set at James Madison last
year.
Goode, a Preseason All-NEC selection, led the Mount in scoring
(14.5), assists (5.5) and steals (2.0) last year in helping lead
the Mount to the NEC title and the NCAA Tournament. Goode now has
816 career points, just 20 shy of moving into the Mount's top 50
scorers in school history.
Goode becomes the fifth player in Mount
history to receive more than one NEC Player of the Week Award in
their career. He joins Chris McGuthrie (seven), Landy Thompson
(four),Gregory Harris (two) and Kevin Booth (two) on that list.
The Mount plays at Virginia Tech tonight at 8:00 p.m.
