Emmitsburg, Md. (December 1,
2007)--Sophomore Jeremy Goode (Charlotte, N.C./Providence
Day) tallied 22 points, nine assists and a career high seven steals
to pace Mount St. Mary's to a 70-58 win over longtime rival Loyola
in the 162nd meeting all-time between the schools. With the win,
the Mount moves to 1-4 on the season while the Greyhounds drop to
4-4.
Goode capped a 11-0 run to close the
first half with a deep three-pointer at the buzzer to give the
Mount a 27-21 lead at the break before a boisterous crowd of 2,109

opening 20 minutes.
Mount St. Mary's opened the second half
with an 18-7 run to take a commanding 45-28 advantage with 14:11
left in the contest. The Mount led by double figures the rest of
the way to close out their first win of the season.
Goode's seven steals were a career best
and are the most by a Mount player since Riley Inge tallied nine
steals against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Jan. 13, 1996. Goode also
tied a career high with his nine assists while it was the third
time he has topped the 20-piont mark in his career.
Chris Vann (Woodbridge, Va./Gar-Field)
tallied 14 of his 16 points in the second half for the Mount while
Will Holland (Houston, Texas/Lamar) chipped in 13 points on 5-of-9
shooting. Gerald Brown came off the bench to pace Loyola with 12
points.
The Mount now holds a 94-68 advantage in
the most played rivalry in the state of Maryland. The win snaps a
two-game losing streak to the Greyhounds.
At halftime of the game, the Mount
retired former great Fred Carter's number. Carter, third on the
Mount's all-time scoring list with 1,840 points, averaged 21.9
points and 10.8 rebounds in 84 career games at the Mount.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on
