Mike Jones hit five three-pointers to stake Maryland to a 15-1
lead four minutes into the game and the Terrapins cruised to a
91-50 win over Mount St. Mary's on Thursday night. Chris Vann and
Kelly Beidler each scored 12 points to pace the Mount (2-10, 1-0
NEC) in the loss.
Jones scored 20 of his career high 29 points in the first half
as Maryland led 55-24 at the half. D.J. Strawberry added 11 points
in the opening 20 minutes as the Terrapins shot 60.0 percent in the
first half.
Vann scored nine of his 12 points in the second half for the
Mount while Beidler reached double figures for the second straight
game. Vann has scored in double figures in 11 straight for the
Mount.
The Mount was held to 29.7 percent shooting in the game while
the Terrapins (12-2) finished shooting 50.7 percent. Maryland
blocked 15 Mount St. Mary's shots, led by Ekene Ibekwe's eight.
The Mount returns to action on Jan. 4 when they visits Long
Island in a Northeast Conference game.
