EMMITSBURG, MD (August 28, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's women's soccer returns home to face the Richmond Spiders on Sunday.   
 
MOUNT UPDATE
 
Aayla Burgo scored her first career goal and Cauome Valle recorded her first career assist as the Mount fell 4-2 to George Mason last Sunday. Burgo is the third person to score a goal for the team this season, and Valle was the first to record an assist. Goalie Abby Makela is up to 26 saves for the season.
 
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
 
Richmond is off to a good start, defeating Wofford and Queens and earning a draw with American. Four different Spiders have scored this season, led by Morgane Zinn and her brace against Queens. Veronica Rrapi has started all three games, allowing one goal against six saves.
 
SERIES HISTORY
 
This is the first meeting between the teams since 1997. Richmond won both previous meetings, prevailing 1-0 in 1996 and 5-2 in 1997.

Sunday's contest completes non-conference play for the Mount. On September 5, the team travels to Iona for an 11 AM game with the Gaels in New Rochelle, New York.
