EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 4, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's baseball moved their Wednesday non-conference, midweek game against the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore up to Tuesday, May 5, with first pitch against the Hawks tomorrow slatted for a 3:00p.m. start.
MOUNT UPDATE
Merrimack took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning before one swing of
Bryce Rudisill's bat cut the deficit to one after the first baseman from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania sent out a solo home run to right center. The Warriors tacked on two more runs in the top of the second before
Alex Mendes doubled in the bottom half of the third, scoring
Evan Meier to cut the lead two.
After Merrimack extended their lead once Again in the top half of the fourth to 7-2,
Cameron Biller singled to right center, scoring
Ty Fredo and
David Stokely to cut the lead to 7-4. Merrimack jumped out to a 13-4 lead by the end of the fifth inning, with the Mountaineers cutting the deficit once again when
David Stokely grounded out to the pitcher, scoring
Christian Bauman. The Mountaineer's final run came during the bottom of the eighth after Biller ground out to the short stop, scoring Stokely from third base.
Biller led the Mountaineers on the day from the plate, knocking in three RBIs while going 2-4. Stokely went 2-4 with two runs scored and an RBI while Mendes went 2-4 as well, knocking in a single RBI. Meier, Bauman, Rudisill, Fredo, and
Phoenix Williams all recorded solo hits against Merrimack on Sunday afternoon.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
UMES has recorded an 8-33 record in 2026 while notching a 7-20 record in the Northeast Conference. Their lone out of conference win on the calendar came against Manhattan on March 1, defeating the Jaspers 8-2in seven innings. Wins in the Northeast Conference during the season have come against Stonehill, Coppin State, LIU, Delaware state, and Norfolk State.

Dating to their first meeting in 1994, Mount St. Mary's has recorded an overall record 39-16 against UMES while posting a 15-6 record in Emmitsburg against the Hawks. The Mountaineers currently have a three-game win streak against UMES dating back 2024, with the Mount's last game in Princess Anne ending in a 17-5 win for the Mount on February 26, 2025.
