Mountaineers Looks to Get Back on Track with MAAC Series at Quinnipiac

EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 23, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's baseball travels to Hamden, Connecticut this weekend for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series against Quinnipiac from April 24 – April26, with first pitch on Friday slated for 3:00 p.m.
 
MOUNT UPDATE
 
Against Maryland on Tuesday, the Terrapins exploded in the top of the first inning for seven runs before the Mountaineers got on the board in the bottom of the first after Alex Mendes stole second base, scoring on an overthrown ball from the Maryland catcher during the same sequence. Maryland scored twice more in the third inning before Ty Fredo reached on a Fielders choice in the bottom of the third, scoring Joey Agar from third.
 
Maryland dropped a four spot in the fifth the fifth inning before the Mountaineers took over in their half of the end. Christian Bauman got the scoring started for the Mount in the fifth, reaching base on an error while Mike Toth and Ryan McKay crossed the plate. Bauman later stole second while advancing all the way around the bases on another throwing error by the Terrapin catcher for the Mount's fifth run of the game. Later on in the fifth, Evan Meier hit out a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Christian Bauman for the Mount's sixth run before David Stokely singled up the middle, scoring Bryce Rudfisill for the Mount's fifth run of the inning.
 
The Mountaineers allowed four more runs in the seventh and eighth innings before a Mendes single in the bottom of the eighth scored Carson Clark, rounding out the Mountaineers run game against the Terrapins.
 
Mendes led the way for the Mountaineers at the plate, going 4-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Ty FredoEvan Meier, and David Stokely all notched RBIs on the day against the Terrapins. Altogether, 11 mountaineers took the mound for the Mount on Tuesday against Maryland, with Mike ArndtBrandon RiceKaden KimbleJackson Snyder, and Jake Andrews all notching innings without earned runs.
 
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
 
Quinnipiac owns a record of 18-21 throughout the 2026 season, notching a 9-9 record in the MAAC. Notable out of conference wins for the Bobcats have come against Old Dominion, North Florida, UNC Greensboro, Yale, and UConn while notching a series win against Saint Peter's and a series win against Canisius.
 
ALL-TIME RECORDS
 
Dating to 1999, the Mountaineers have a 24-32 record against Quinnipiac, owning a 10-19 record in Hamden. Mount St. Mary's claimed a series victory in last year's edition of the match up, taking two out of three games against Quinnipiac in Emmitsburg.
