Mount Flag Football Defeats Sacred Heart, Falls to Marymount in Waldron Debut

EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 12, 2026) – As electric crowds cheered them on, Mount St. Mary's flag football played their first home games on campus, splitting a pair of games with Sacred Heart and Marymount. The results put the Mount at 7-11 and 5-3 in Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) competition.

Annabelle Haught excelled at the quarterback position, combining for 253 passing yards and four touchdowns. Alyssa Lane finished with 141 yards on the ground, including 107 in the victory. Arieon Stokes had three touchdowns in the opening games, and Jayanna Goines had six catches in the nightcap.

On defense, Chloe Lover-Omar had four sacks in the SHU win, and Stokes returned a pick from the first game for a touchdown. Madison Kean led in tackles during the first game, and Morgan Gregory and Keira Speikes shared the tackle lead for the second game.

 GAME 1: Mount St. Mary's 50, Sacred Heart 6
  • Lane took the first play from scrimmage to the house, going 66 yards.
  • Sacred Heart pulled within one for their lone score of the game.
  • Stokes supplied the next two touchdowns, with a three-yard run and a 22-yard interception return.
  • Lane ended the first half with another score for a 37-6 halftime lead. The Mount would tack on three in the second half.
GAME 2: Marymount 27, Mount St. Mary's 18
  • The Saints struck first on a 44-yard pass from Jenesia Velez to Kaylah Barr.
  • Each team traded off touchdowns through the first half. A pair of missed conversions from the Mount was the only difference in a 14-12 Marymount lead.
  • Jordyn Dodson-Jenson caught a touchdown pass from Haught to put the Mount up, 18-14. Marymount countered with a score to take the lead back 21-18.
  • As the Saints drove for a dagger score, Lane intercepted a pass at the goal line. She would return the interception for a touchdown, but that was negated by a penalty. The Mount was unable to capitalize on offense, and Marymount earned that gut punch score with 1:26 remaining.
