MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's could not overcome a 23-0 Merrimack run in an 87-70 loss to the Warriors on Thursday night at Knott Arena. Merrimack scored the final two points of the first half to cut the Mount's lead to 40-39 at the break, and then rattled off the first 21 points of the second half to take control of the game. Trey Deveaux led the Mount with 15 points, Luke McEldon had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Abdou Khadre Kébé had 11 points and nine rebounds in the game.
- The Mount defeated Iona, 66-59, on December 29 at Knott Arena, but Iona still holds a 7-4 lead in the all-time series. The Mount has won the past two matchups, including a 63-49 win over the Gaels in the MAAC Championship game last season. The Mount is 1-4 all-time at Iona, and is 1-4 against Iona in MAAC regular season games.
- Mount St. Mary's currently stands in a tie for eighth place in the MAAC standings with Sacred Heart with a 6-8 mark. Fairfield is in sixth place with a 7-7 record with Iona in between at 6-7. The top six teams in the MAAC earn a first round bye in the MAAC Tournament which will be held March 5-10 in Atlantic City, N.J.
- Mount St. Mary's fell to 2-12 this season when allowing 70 or more points after the 87-70 loss to Merrimack on Thursday night. The Mount is 8-3 on the year when holding the opposition under 70.
- Mount St. Mary's is 4-0 this season on Saturdays with wins over Howard (79-75), Loyola (81-73), Canisius (78-68) and Rider (71-61). The Mount's record for the rest of the week is as follows: Monday (2-0), Tuesday (1-2), Wednesday (0-2), Thursday (0-2), Friday (1-5) and Sunday (2-4 ).
- Abdou Khadre Kébé had 11 points and nine rebounds in the Mount's loss to Merrimack on Thursday night. Kébé is averaging 10.0 points and 8.3 rebounds over the past four games. Since being inserted into the starting lineup nine games ago, Kébé is averaging 8.6 points and 6.7 boards per game.
- Trey Deveaux led the Mount with 15 points in the loss to Merrimack on Thursday night. Deveaux is just 31 points shy of reaching 1,000 points for his collegiate career. Deveaux scored 463 points at Wayne State in 2023-24, 262 at Western Illinois last year, and has 244 this season for the Mountaineers.
