MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's topped Iona, 83-76, on the road on Saturday to improve to 11-15 overall and 7-8 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The Mount had five players reach double figures in scoring in a strong performance. Trey Deveaux and Luke McEldon each scored 17 points to lead the offense while Arlandus Keyes added 15 points. Abdou Khadre Kébé posted his first career double-double with 12 points and a career-high 16 rebounds while Anthony Arrington, Jr., chipped in 11 points off the bench.
- Mount St. Mary's downed Rider, 71-61, on January 24 at Knott Arena in the first meeting this season. The Mount has won two in a row against Rider, but the Broncs own a 17-15 lead in the all-time series. The Mount is 3-4 all-time in MAAC regular season games against the Broncs, including a 1-2 mark at Alumni Gym. Â
- The Mount and Rider were both members of the Northeast Conference (NEC) during from 1992-97. One of the Mount's biggest wins in program history came against the Broncs in the 1995 NEC championship game. The Mount rallied from a 29-to-16 halftime deficit to earn the program's first-ever bid to the NCAA Division I Tournament.
- Mount St. Mary's currently stands in seventh place in the MAAC standings with a 7-8 league record, a game behind Fairfield (8-7) for sixth place. Iona is eighth (6-8) with Manhattan and Sacred Heart tied for ninth (6-9). The top six teams in the MAAC standings earn a First Round bye in the MAAC Tournament which will be held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., on March 5-10.
- Mount St. Mary's has won three of its past four road games, and is now 3-4 in MAAC regular season games on the road.
- Abdou Khadre Kébé recorded his first career double-double with 12 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in the win at Iona on Feb. 7. Kébé is averaging 10.4 points and 9.8 rebounds over the past five games for the Mountaineers. He is now averaging 8.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game on the year.
- Trey Deveaux scored 17 points in the Mount's win at Iona, and is averaging 16.0 points over the past two games. Deveaux is just 14 points shy of reaching 1,000 points for his collegiate career. Deveaux scored 463 points at Wayne State in 2023-24, 262 at Western Illinois last year, and has 244 this season for the Mountaineers.
- Up next, the Mount returns to Knott Arena for the final two home games of the season next weekend. The Mount hosts Niagara on Friday, February 20, at 7 pm and Canisius on Sunday, February 22, at 2 pm.
