EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 8, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball fell to the Quinnipiac Bobcats by a 70-44 final on Thursday morning at Knott Arena.
Alana Powell was the lone Mountaineer in double figures with 10 points.
Kayla Lindsey finished with four steals in 19 minutes off the bench.
Zaria Harleaux scored her first points in a Mount St. Mary's uniform, finishing with four.
Quinnipiac was led by Ella O'Donnell's double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Jackie Grisdale added 14 and Sydney Ryan added 11.
With the defeat, the Mount falls to 6-8 for the season and 2-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Quinnipiac is 11-4 (6-0 MAAC) after the game.
HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED
- Mount initiated a press that kept Quinnipiac's offense at bay in the early going. Five of the team's 11 points came off turnovers and the game exited the first quarter tied.
- After building a 19-15 lead the Mountaineers conceded a 10-0 run to the Bobcats. Quinnipiac led 27-21 at halftime.
- The visitors used the momentum to break open the game in the third quarter. They scored 21 out of 23 points as the Mount were unable to generate a shot from the field. Lenora Nkangwen hit free throws with 6:23 left until Gabrielle Kennerly scored with 1:12 left.
- Powell scored six of her 10 points in the fourth period. Karson Martin came off the bench to score eight points for Quinnipiac.
NOTEWORTHY ITEMS
- Mount St. Mary's falls to 10-24 all-time against Quinnipiac, and 3-4 in MAAC play.
- Thursday's defeat of 30 or more is the third occurrence this season, joining November 4 at Richmond and December 3 at Maryland.
- The margin of defeat in the MAAC is the largest for the Mount since a 75-47 loss to Manhattan on January 9, 2025.
