  • Mount St. Mary's used a strong defensive effort in the second half to pull away for a 71-61 win over Rider at Knott Arena on Saturday.  The Mount held the Broncs to 8-of-33 (.242) shooting in the second half, including 0-of-7 (.000) from three-point range.  Xavier Lipscomb led four Mountaineers in double figures with a career-high 20 points.  Arlandus Keyes added 16 points and five assists, Trey Deveaux 13 points and six boards, and Abdou Khadre Kébé 12 points and a carer-high nine rebounds in the win.
  • Mount St. Mary's defeated Saint Peter's, 70-65, at home on January 9 to take a 6-5 lead in the all-time series with Saint Peter's.  The Mount has won three straight in the series, and is now 4-3 against Saint Peter's in MAAC regular season matchups.
  • In the first matchup this year, Xavier Lipscomb paced the Mount with 18 points, hitting 12-of-12 at the foul line in the win.  Trailing 56-54, Lipscomb scored five consecutive points to give the Mount the lead for good.  Trey Deveaux's three-pointer gave the Mount a 64-58 lead with 1:23 left.  After a 4-0 SPU run, Lipscomb went 4-for-4 at the line in the closing 44 seconds to seal the victory.
  • Mount St. Mary's has picked it up on the defensive end, holding the opposition to 65.2 points and 36.8 percent shooting over the past 10 games.
  • With his 20-point game in the win over Rider, Xavier Lipscomb became the fifth Mountaineer this season to score 20 or more points in a game, joining Arlandus Keyes (twice), Justin Amadi, Trey Deveaux and Luke McEldon.  The last time the Mount had five different players have at least one 20-point game was during the 2019-20 season.  That list included Jalen Gibbs, Damian Chong Qui Vado Morse, Malik Jefferson and Nana Opoku.
  • Senior Arlandus Keyes scored 16 points in the win over Rider, and is averaging 16.5 points over the past four games.  Keyes is shooting 58.5 percent (24-of-41) from the field and 51.7 percent (15-of-29) from three-point range over that stretch.
  • Since being inserted into the starting lineup six games ago, Abdou Khadre Kébé is averaging 8.0 points and a team-high 6.0 rebounds.  Kébé has grabbed five or more rebounds in each of the past six games while scoring in double figures twice over that span.
