Mount St. Mary's Set to Induct Five into Hall of Fame on Saturday

EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 23, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's University is set to induct five new members to the Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday.   Among the inductees a two-sport start in women's soccer and women's lacrosse, a record-breaking sprinter, the baseball team's all-time leader in saves, a four-time all-conference women's lacrosse defender, and one of the top goal scorers for the men's lacrosse program. 

The Hall of Fame Class of 2026 receive formal induction on Saturday, January 24 in the Dillon Field House of the Knott ARCC. Events begin at 10:30 a.m.. The inductees will be honored again at halftime of the women's game against Merrimack at 1:00 p.m. and prior to the men's basketball contest against Rider at 4:00 p.m.

Lacey A. Johansson C'00, and MBA'01, Women's Lacrosse and Soccer 
During her time at the Mount Johansson, captained both her soccer and lacrosse teams. In addition to graduating cum laude, Johansson was named First Team All-Northeast Conference (NEC) in the midfield as a senior.  On the soccer field, she appeared in 66 career games and is sixth all-time at the Mount with 11 assists.  For her career, she tallied seven goals and 11 assists on the soccer field.

Michael P. Matta, C'10, Baseball 
Matta is one of the top pitchers in the Mount books, holding career marks for appearances (96) and saves (24) while he is second in career wins (19).  He was instrumental in helping the Mount to a program record 35 wins in 2007, finishing 4-3 with a 2.37 ERA and eight saves.  A second-team All-NEC selection as a senior, he finished his career with a 19-14 record and a 3.62 ERA.   Matta appeared in 22 or more games in each of his four seasons with a career-best 26 appearances in 2010 (2nd-most in a season at the Mount). 

Dr. Ashley M. DeCruise- Tucker, C'11, Women's Track and Field 
DeCruise-Tucker had a record-setting career for the Mount's track and field team.  She earned 13 First or Second All-NEC honors during her career, winning six NEC individual events (two indoor and four outdoor).  Decruise-Tucker was named the 2011 NEC Most Outstanding Performer at the Indoor Championships and was the NEC Rookie of the Meet in 2008.  She is in the Mount's top 10 in nine different events, including three school-record relay teams.

Aly Jost, C'11, Women's Lacrosse  
Jost will be remembered as one of the top defenders in Mount women's lacrosse history.  A four-time First Team All-NEC selection on defense, she was named the NEC's Defensive Player of the Year twice (2009 and 2011).  She is in the Mount's top 10 all-time in career ground balls and cause turnovers.  Jost was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team and the NEC Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2011.

Brett R. Schmidt, C'13, Men's Lacrosse 
Schmidt is one of the top goal scorers in Mount men's lacrosse history posting a streak of 41 consecutive games with a goal.  He stands eighth all-time at the Mount with 114 career goals, fifth with 196 career points and nine with 82 career assists.  Named to the NEC All-Rookie team as a freshman, he was named First Team All-NEC twice (2011 and 2012) while garnering Second Team All-NEC honors twice as well (2010 and 2013).  He appeared in the prestigious USILA North-South game in 2013.
